The fourth week of the Borderlands Anniversary Celebration, which is commemorating ten years of Gearbox Software's highly popular looter shooter franchise, has arrived, and it is bringing yet another event to Borderlands 3. Details on this event, which is titled "Mayhem on Twitch," were teased during a Borderlands 3 live stream that occurred at the end of last week, but now the developer has come forward with all of the relevant information about this week's offering.

The Borderlands 3 Mayhem on Twitch event is set to begin today, October 22, and it will be implemented by way of a small patch that will be available before 3pm PDT. As indicated in the aforementioned live stream, Mayhem on Twitch will increase the drop rate of Anointed gear in Borderlands 3, and it has now been clarified that this will only be true for players that have Mayhem Mode activated. Furthermore, XP gains will be increased in Mayhem Mode, and there will be "reduced values for various Mayhem Mode penalty modifiers" as well.

Separately, and as the name of this temporary BL3 event implies, Mayhem on Twitch also features a Twitch-based component. Specifically, Gearbox has "amped-up" the ECHOcast features, making Badass Viewer Events more frequent, speeding-up the voting periods that occur during these events, and offering a 100% guaranteed win rate on Rare Chest Events. Indeed, this aspect of the Borderlands 3 Mayhem on Twitch event sounds like a lot of fun, and many viewers and streamers will likely want to participate.

To note, while anyone can enjoy the Twitch component of BL3's Mayhem on Twitch event, that is not the case for the in-game offering. In order to activate Mayhem Mode, and thus receive the benefits of the event, players will need to have completed the Borderlands 3 main story. This will likely not be a problem for a majority of the players that are interested in participating in the festivities, but players that have not completed the campaign may wish to do so before the end of Mayhem on Twitch arrives.

With respect to exactly when this Borderlands 3 Mayhem on Twitch end date will come, October 28 is set as the event's last day. Then, there will be just one more weekly event, which is currently noted as a "Spooky Surprise," before the Borderlands Anniversary Celebration officially reaches its conclusion. That said, there is still plenty of content, including forthcoming DLC, for Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters to look forward to.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
