Many Borderlands 3 fans are excited for the upcoming release of the game's second campaign add-on, Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock. Gearbox itself is so excited for the DLC, it featured it prominently on its behind-the-scenes show called The Borderlands Show, as was confirmed last week.

Not only did it show highlights from the first hour of the new storyline, Gearbox's Head of DLC Production Anthony Nicholson shared info on Borderlands 3's upcoming Mayhem 2.0 addition. The developers also shared details on other additions coming to the game, and hopefully fans have prepared themselves.

The gameplay highlight reel of Guns, Love, and Tentacles was great, but what fans really want to know is the details of all the new changes coming to Borderlands 3. The first big change is the free level cap increase. The level cap will be raised from 53 to 57, which means players will earn four extra skill points. This also means players will unlock two capstone skills, which as Gearbox points out in the show, could drastically change players' builds.

As impressive as that is, it's the new revamping of the Mayhem mode that could end up really overpowering players. Mayhem 2.0 is a new difficulty-amplifying mode that will feature 10 levels and 25 unique modifiers. The Mayhem level will directly affect the type of loot that drops. For example, a weapon that drops in Mayhem 4 will have better stats than the same weapon if it drops in Mayhem 2. The idea is that players will gradually work their way through each Mayhem level, earning loot to better prepare them for the next level. Another convenient change made to Mayhem mode is that players can now change the difficulty from the ECHO menu, as opposed to only when aboard Sanctuary III.

Nicholson shared the details of Mayhem 2.0 on The Borderlands Show, standing in for Gearbox Quebec's Game Director Max Babin who couldn't make an appearance due to the current coronavirus pandemic. Along with Mayhem 2.0, Nicholson also expanded on Revenge of the Cartels, Borderlands 3's next big seasonal event. Revenge of the Cartels is slated to be released alongside Mayhem 2.0 in April.

Revenge of the Cartels is a mafia-like story about whacking debt-collecting gangsters before fighting the boss in a new location called "The Mansion." There will be three different gangs made up of different enemy types, and each will have unique loot and anointed parts. Nicholson says the gang will always be random on each run, but players will never face the same group twice in a row. Revenge of the Cartels will be a six-week event.

For any Golden Key fans hoping to find some SHiFT codes in this article, the developers on The Borderlands Show actually shared one for a whopping five Golden Keys at the end of the episode, and here it is: CTWJB-H5HSW-R96RS-5R3BB-H33K5. This SHiFT code can be redeemed here before it deactivates on April 8, 2020 at 11:59 PM.

Borderlands 3 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia. Mayhem 2.0 will launch in April on an undetermined date.
