Borderlands 3 is preparing for the release of its upcoming Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite endgame content, which will become permanently available to all players who finish the game's main campaign. Gearbox is promising all-new legendary gear specific to the Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite map along with the DLC, and the second episode of The Borderlands Show offered a first look at the gear in question.

Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite is arriving on November 21, which should give players enough time to reach the prerequisite level 50 needed to participate in the DLC's extremely challenging missions. Takedowns represent another variety of free content, like the currently-running Bloody Harvest event, to be added to Borderlands 3.

After delivering new legendary weapons in the current Borderlands event, Gearbox focused its DLC efforts on putting out some of the most powerful shields in Borderlands 3 and showcased three of them during The Borderlands Show. The first of these is the Frozen Snowshoe, a legendary shield with a capacity of 9,280 and the ability to drain all enemy shields when sliding into them while dealing up to 5,949 bonus Cryo damage based on the player's current shield strength. Then there's the Improved Version O.m, which looks like an evolved Snowshow shield with a capacity of 10, 708. Finally, the Re-Charge Berner shield has a capacity of 5,069; this shield deals 16,730 damage on shield break and fill, and immediately begins recharging when broken with a cooldown rate of 20 seconds.

Besides shields, The Borderlands Show also revealed two of the legendary weapons that will come with the Maliwan Takedown DLC. The first of those would be the Auditing Executive Redistributor, which was formerly a blue rarity-turned legendary, an SMG with 126% cryo efficiency and the ability to slow enemies. The other legendary's name is even more of a mouthful than usual: it's the Double-Penetrating Shredded Tiggs' Boom, a powerful shotgun that is highly effective versus flesh. All in all, players gearing up for Takedown on Maliwan's Blacksite have plenty to work towards if any (or all) of these legendaries strike their fancy.

Of course, Gearbox also recommends players already have a decent few legendaries equipped before diving into the Takedown, since it was designed to be extra difficult. In preparation, players can take a look at the big raid boss just revealed for the Maliwan Takedown, to get an idea of what they'll be up against when the day arrives.

Borderlands 3 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in the works for future release.
