There's no doubt that myriad gaming fans have been excited ever since Gearbox Software announced Borderlands 3 during PAX East 2019, with plenty of players continuing to pore over the contents of the official Borderlands 3 reveal trailer. Of course, there's still a lot more details about the game to be unveiled in the coming weeks and months, and in lieu of any new information just yet, one rumor that has apparently been making the rounds is that Ice-T will voice a character in the first-person shooter.

This rumor seems to have been perpetuated by Ice-T himself, as the American rapper and actor recently took to his official Twitter account to share that a rumor is circulating which says he could be lending his pipes to provide lines for a certain Borderlands 3 character. At this point, though, there's no telling exactly which role within Borderlands 3 he could be playing, or if this bit of hearsay is actually factual.

Nevertheless, the official Borderlands 3 Twitter account playfully chimed in on the matter after Ice-T's tweet, which could be further indication of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star's involvement with the forthcoming video game. Again, though, it must be noted that his billing as one of the title's characters has yet to be officially confirmed by Borderlands 3 developer Gearbox Software.

Should Ice-T actually be the voice behind one of the figures within Borderlands 3, it wouldn't be the first instance of the rapper and actor doing voice work for the video games medium. For instance, Ice-T voiced Gears of War 3's Aaron Griffin, Madd Dogg in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and he also appeared as himself in Def Jam: Fight for NY and UFC: Tapout. What's more is that Ice-T's clearly passionate about video games themselves, as he often talks about them via his Twitter account, and has recently shared his progress in looter shooters such as Destiny 2 and The Division 2.

Should this rumor be true, it's safe to presume many would be interested in hearing Ice-T voicing a character in Borderlands 3. The franchise already has a unique cast of characters with their own distinctive voices, and adding Ice-T's vocal abilities into the mix has the potential to strengthen what is an already solid aspect of the series.

Borderlands 3 currently lacks an official release date, but is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
