With the release of new DLC for Borderlands 3, there's always new gear to chase and new content to explore for players. This is especially true for the Guns, Loves, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright and Hammerlock DLC, which adds a new, extremely powerful pistol, the Hydrafrost, among other new legendaries.
The Hydrafrost is a COV pistol that does cryo elemental damage. In Borderlands 3, the cryo element is great for slowing down enemies or flat out freezing them in order to have an easier time securing kills. Although having the cryo element on a weapon is great, this is not the only element the weapon is capable of distributing, as earning kills grants bonus elemental effects.
The weapon can be found in the new DLC location Negul Neshai. To the furthest right side of the map, which is conveniently close to the initial fast travel point, there's a rare enemy spawn – Shiverous the Unscathed.
If players are lucky, Shiverous will drop Hydrafrost, which can also be anointed, so looking out for an anointed variant is ideal. Although getting the drop may be time-consuming, earning the weapon is completely worth the time it takes, as the weapon shreds enemies– even on the Mayhem 4 difficulty.
When getting a kill, the weapon has a chance to deal bonus incendiary or shock damage for six seconds. This, mixed with the cryo damage that the weapon is already dealing, shreds through enemies on any difficulty. Sadly, the weapon can't be earned with Golden Keys from shift codes and must be farmed from Shiverous.
Vault Hunters have to have patience to farm the weapon, though it's completely worth the time to get it. The weapon is highly recommended, as it is extremely versatile with enemies, as well as being quite simple to farm for. The weapon is great for most major mobs and is definitely one of the best weapons that are manufactured by COV, giving some of the highest-tier Legendaries in the game a run for their money, all said and done.
