In Borderlands 3, players have the option to allow a free-for-all in Vault Hunters grabbing loot, or to evenly divide it up so that everyone gets a fair share. This function makes gear trading a must, as players will often get loot they don't need that they may want to share with their co-op partners.

Thankfully, Borderlands 3 allows players to mail items to each other for easy trading, even when another player is offline. Here's how to get it done.

Sharing items with fellow players has always been possible in Borderlands games, and Borderlands 3 is no different. However, what this entry does differently is it introduces new methods to do it, including the ability to mail loot to friends in Borderlands 3 regardless of where they are. Players should keep in mind, though, that the players who want to utilize this method of trading need to be on each other's friends lists.

Access Mail

The first thing the player must do is access the mail menu. To do this, all the player needs to do is to pause the game, and access the Social menu option. From there, one can tab over to the mail option to view the inbox. Keep in mind that this option is only available in an active session, not from the main menu. However, the two trading players don't need to actually be playing with each other in order for this to work.

Incoming Mail

Once the player has accessed their mail, they can immediately check their incoming mail for deliveries. Players should check it periodically, as Gearbox will send all bonuses to this inbox. In the meantime, if the co-op partner has sent the player one of Borderlands 3's billion guns already, it'll be waiting in the player's inbox. Simply select the notification that the item has arrived and accept it.

Outgoing Mail

The send mail option is where players can send weapons to their friends. To get there, open the mail screen and select X button on the Xbox One or the Square button on the PS4. This should open the player's inventory where the player can select whichever item they want to send to their friend.

Mailing items is the most convenient way to trade in the game, as it ensures that a player can send weapons regardless of whether or not a friend is actively sharing a session with the player. Borderlands 3 players should keep in mind, however, that once a weapon is transferred it can't be transferred again, so they shouldn't give away any weapons they've grown fond of.

Borderlands 3 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
