Borderlands 3's third DLC, Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption, is live now, and it brings a brand-new, Western-inspired story to Gearbox Software's popular looter shooter. However, before players are able to enjoy the new story missions contained within BL3's Bounty of Blood, they will first need to start the DLC, and this guide details exactly how that is done.

The first step to getting started with the Bounty of Blood is to make sure that the player has purchased the Borderlands 3 Season Pass or the standalone DLC. Indeed, this is not a free content update, and players will not be able to access the Bounty of Blood DLC without paying for it in some capacity. Once a fan has verified that they have made such a purchase, they should then be certain that they allow BL3 to update.

Once updated, fans should head to Sanctuary 3 in Borderlands 3 and navigate to the section that contains the Lost Loot Machine. Very near to this machine fans will find a table with a wanted poster sitting on top of it, and players should interact with that sign to get access to a new mission called Blood From a Stone. This mission marks the beginning of BL3's Bounty of Blood DLC, and fans should follow the onscreen prompts to proceed.

The first of these onscreen prompts instructs players to navigate to Gehenna, and that can be done by visiting the bridge at the front of the ship. Here fans should interact with the navigation console in the center of the room and then select Gehenna. This will set Sanctuary 3 on course for the planet, and then all a player must do is head to the lower decks and interact with a drop pod to start Borderlands 3's Bounty of Blood DLC.

To note, some fans have reported that they are not able to start Bounty of Blood despite the fact that they have already purchased the BL3 Season Pass or standalone DLC. Gearbox Software has suggested that these players try to download the DLC directly through their platform's store page. The developer has also noted that Bounty of Blood is "still rolling out to all players," which means that some fans may need to wait a bit longer before diving into this new content.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
