Borderlands 3 is making quite a few changes to the traditional Borderlands formula to make sure that the highly anticipated game lives up to the series reputation. From major loot drop changes to skill tree overhauls, Gearbox Software is doing a lot to make Borderlands 3 the best it can be. Outside of the loot drop changes, one of the biggest changes coming in Borderlands 3 is to the weapons players will find throughout the game, and how manufacturers will play a bigger role this time around.

If the Borderlands 3 reveal trailer is to be believed then Borderlands 3 will feature over a billion guns for players to find to help take down the wild forces of the wasteland (and beyond). One of the key features of the Borderlands loot system is the manufacturers of the weapons, which dictates how the gun behave. While every manufacturer in Borderlands has a distinct style and general theme, Borderlands 3 will be making the manufacturer bonuses more distinct based on which company made them.

When players reload a Tediore weapon, they will still throw the weapon and have it explode, but in Borderlands 3 they will also track enemies after they are thrown. Maliwan weapons will still keep their high elemental damage, but now players can charge up shots for more elemental effects as well as swap between two elements. Dahl weapons will now allow players to swap firing modes to fit the fight. Atlas weapons will fire tracking bullets, which will make for some interesting encounters. The Borderlands 3 pre-order bonuses will likely be even more interesting thanks to these changes.

Vladof weapons will now be all about gun attachments, like tasers, rocket tubes, and more gun barrels. Hyperion weapons will give players a weapon-mounted shield when aiming. Jakobs weapons will likely still be extremely fast-firing, but now bullets will also ricochet toward targets as well. Torgue weapons will be able to toggle between sticky and regular explosive projectiles. Lastly, the Children of the Vault, led by the new villains of Borderlands 3, will be making weapons that feature "infinite" magazines, but will sometimes overheat.

These changes are sure to make every gun feel more unique in the wild world of Borderlands 3. In the previous games, manufacturers only came with a small bonus to certain elements of the gun, but now it will completely change how players approach loot. These changes are sure to make a big impact on players as they look to secure some wild and crazy guns to take on the Calypso twins this fall.
