Borderlands 3 'The Borderlands Are Yours' Gameplay Trailer Debuts

borderlands 3 loot is obscene

Gearbox has released a new trailer for Borderlands 3. The new trailer's title is "The Borderlands Are Yours" and showcases a diverse range of gameplay. Much of the gameplay is in-engine cinematic footage, but there's a good selection of authentic action, too. The content shown within the trailer includes a look at each of the four Vault Hunters' abilities, a tour of the Borderlands 3 universe, and the most varied selection of guns and enemies shown yet.

While there's plenty of juicy Borderlands 3 content to be found in the new trailer, the guns and the enemy types are definitely the highlight. Just in the trailer's first 30 seconds, the trailer showcases a staggering variety of enemies, with perhaps the best example being Borderlands 3's Cultist villains. While they may all be the same enemy type, they each appear to be visually unique. The guns speak for themselves, with virtually no weapon the same as another. The gun-shooting-gun looks especially fun.

Vehicles also received quite a bit of attention in the new Borderlands 3 trailer. There are three vehicles in Borderlands 3, including the Cyclone monowheel bike, the more traditional 4-wheeled Technical, and the extremely fast Outrunner which doubles as a hovercraft. The early part of the trailer shows just how customizable these vehicles can be. Vault Hunters will be able to choose from customizations for speed, armor, and more, befitting every player's approach to the game.

Watchful Borderlands 3 players may also have spotted a bit of story hidden in the trailer. One sequence appears to show the Borderlands 2 playable character Zero swinging his sword at another past Borderlands protagonist, Rhys of Tales From the Borderlands, which contradicts past trailers that insinuated that Zero is Rhys' new bodyguard or security.  Aurelia Hammerlock, DLC Vault Hunter in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel also makes a brief, chilling appearance.

Gearbox has reached a point where fans of Borderlands are likely intensely aware of just what Borderlands 3's big selling points will be. There are only so many trailers Gearbox can release showing a diverse range of enemies and guns, so many that show each off the four Vault Hunters' abilities, before frustrated players realize they'll just have to experience it for themselves to get the full experience. Luckily, they won't have to wait too much longer.

Borderlands 3 releases September 13 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
