Later today, Gearbox Software will finally reveal details on Borderlands 3's next DLC campaign, giving fans an idea of what is on the horizon for this highly-popular looter shooter. That said, the developer is not only focused on the future of Borderlands 3 and continues to address the current state of the game as well. Case in point: Gearbox has just released patch notes for a brand new BL3 update that will be live very soon.

Scheduled to release before 12pm PST today, February 27, this new Borderlands 3 update addresses various aspects of the title. This includes a focus on Borderlands 3 legendary weapons, and indeed the patch buffs some of the worst in the game. For instance, after the BL3 hotfix has been applied players will find that the Lob legendary shotgun's magazine size has increased to 12, its damage per tick has been greatly increased, and that it fires a burst shot of three magical orbs.

Additionally, two legendary sniper rifles have received several improvements. Specifically, the Malak's Bane legendary sniper rifle has had its damage greatly increased and its shotgun ammo consumption reduced to two, and the Woodblocker legendary sniper rifle has had its critical hit damage increased by 100% and its vertical recoil slightly reduced. While such buffs may not put these weapons quite on the same level as Borderlands 3's Wedding Invitation, they are upgrades none the less.

The Ruby's Wrath legendary rocket launcher has been buffed as well, receiving an overall damage boost and a reduction to the cooldown of Singularity Grenade. So too, DAHL assault rifles are the target of a general improvement, and all of them will deal 35% increased damage following today's BL3 update.

While legendary weapon buffs may be the most exciting aspect of the February 27 Borderlands 3 patch, it is not all that players will find in the hotfix. Indeed, today's update fixes several progression blockers, including one that players can encounter in the Cistern of Slaughter, adjusts a boss encounter, and more. All of this can be found fully detailed in the patch notes below, and players will be able to experience the changes for themselves in short order.

Borderlands 3 February 27 Patch Notes

  • Addressed a reported concern that players were sometimes able to bypass Trudy’s spawn trigger during “Kill KillaVolt”
  • Addressed a perceived progression blocker during “All Bets Off” where enemies that were dropped in from a drop pod would sometimes not appear when the player left and returned to the area
  • Included a stopgap fix to prevent a reported blocker due to enemies sometimes becoming stuck in unreachable locations in Cistern of Slaughter

This will be addressed further in a future patch, along with a change to Brood Mother’s spawn conditions.

  • Addressed a reported concern that the “Should’ve Cashed Out” challenge was sometimes not progressing when killing Looters in the DLC area
