During a PAX East presentation today, Borderlands 3 pulled back the curtain surrounding its next major story DLC. Fans now know that it is titled Guns, Love, and Tentacles, will feature the marriage between Wainwright and Hammerlock, and release on March 26. Borderlands 3 fans who were paying extra close attention to the trailer, if they were not in the audience, also caught the surprising return of a fan-favorite Vault Hunter.

It's worth mentioning that a returning Vault Hunter isn't the surprise, but WHO it actually is. Fans have been clamoring for the return of more and more characters as NPCs, especially since rumors about future Borderlands 3 DLC and Mad Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot set forth a precedent for this to be a pattern. Namely, Timothy returning in the Handsome Jackpot DLC could just be the start, and that seems to be the case with the mechromancer Gaige returning in the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC.

As seen in the announcement trailer below, there's not much yet known about her role. She briefly appears at the :35 mark, clearly showing signs that seven years have passed but also clearly and undeniably her character design. Her connection to the Eldritch horror detailed in the DLC, her role in the overall wedding, and/or her relationship with the Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters is unknown, but there's no denying just showing her face is enough for the Gaige hype train.

It's surprising, too. Rumors about the next DLC pointed toward Axton as the returning Vault Hunter, but of course, those rumors were also wrong. Still, there had been next-to-nothing about Gaige that anyone has found related to Borderlands 3, which just makes her confirmed return all the sweeter. The trailer doesn't show her loyal companion, Death Trap, but fans can rest assure that his return will happen as well. After all, it wouldn't be right to include Gaige but exclude Death Trap.

Furthermore, this is also just the first stop in the Spring 2020 Roadmap for Borderlands 3, as Mayhem Mode 2.0, an event known as Revenge of the Cartels, and an Eridian-themed Takedown is on the books. Borderlands 3 may have taken a breather in january in terms of shipping content, but it's clear that it's not slowing down now.

Borderlands 3's Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC releases March 26, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
