The Director's Cut is finally out for Borderlands 3 and it brought a batch of new legendary weapons for players to hunt for. Each DLC for the game seems to bring better and better weapons, and the same is true for the Director's Cut.

Some of these weapons are capable of dishing out damage numbers that can compete with previous DLC weapons. Gearbox has done even more with a new system that allows players to get legendary weapons in a new way. Yet, not all of these new toys are equal in power — some pack a bigger punch than others. Have fun hunting down the new loot, Vault Hunters!

7 Guardian 4N631

Borderlands 3 Guardian 4N631 legendary shotgun

An interesting way to spell "angel", the Guardian can produce some amazing damage numbers. This shotgun's damage increases the farther the player is away from the target.

The downside to this weapon is that the bullets fire extremely slow, making it easy to miss enemies unless the player is shooting them at point-blank range. The weapon also only comes in the shock variant, which limits its capabilities even further. Gearbox attempted to create something cool and make a callout to Angel, but the gun needs some buffs before it can be extremely useful.

6 Mechanic

Borderlands 3 mechanic legendary rocket launcher

Gearbox loves to put in some crazy weapons, like the burger shooting rocket launcher from the base game. In the Director's Cut, the crazy weapon is called the Mechanic. It is a rocket launcher that shoots out car tires, which bounce off of surfaces and explode whenever they come into contact with an enemy. The gun also makes random car noises whenever a player fires it.

The Mechanic doesn't deal the greatest damage, but it does have the bonus of doubling the player's vehicle weapon damage. The bonus doesn't come in particularly useful, however, unless a player is trying to complete the daily challenges.

5 Bird Of Prey

Borderlands 3 Bird of Prey legendary sniper rifle

The Bird of Prey sniper rifle can be good for general mobbing because of its bonus perk, which allows it to spawn in a projectile from the sky that will home in on the player's target. This projectile has a thirty-three percent chance of spawning, and can strike the enemy for 600% damage.

This can lead to an enemy taking heavy damage. The downside to the gun is its slower fire rate, but its damage potential easily makes up for this drawback. Players can use this weapon against bosses to take them down with ease.

4 Ionic Disruptor

Borderlands 3 Ionic Disruptor legendary sniper rifle

The Ionic Disruptor is another sniper rifle that was added in the DLC. This sniper rifle can really pack a punch against any enemy unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end. This gun has the added benefit of ignoring all armor and shields, meaning that any enemy hit with a bullet from this gun will take direct health damage. This makes it easy to annihilate any enemy in a player's path.

This sniper rifle also works extremely well against bosses, and can take them down with only a couple of shots. The downside to this weapon is that it only works on the living. Any enemy that doesn't have flesh will unfortunately take much longer to kill, since the bonus effect won't work on them.

3 Free Radical

Borderlands 3 Free Radical legendary pistol

The Free Radical is the newest in the long line of Maliwan guns to grace the Borderlands universe. This gun only comes in the shock variant, but still deals enough damage to take down any target's health bar faster than most rocket launchers.

This gun deals a massive amount of splash damage that both Moze and Amara can take advantage of. Its bonus ability allows it to summon projectiles that home in on the target. The Free Radical is good against any enemy type including bosses. The only downside to the weapon is that the bonus projectiles don't also deal splash damage.

2 Redeye Rocket Pod

Borderlands 3 Redeye Rocket Pod legendary rocket launcher

The Redeye Rocket Pod is a new rocket launcher with a unique way of firing. It is a mortar launcher, and fire missiles in an arc that causes them to rain down on enemies from above.

This rocket launcher offers a targeting system that displays a red circle on the ground wherever the player is aiming. It then shoots out a barrage of missiles upon the enemies caught in the circle. Every normal enemy that is killed with this launcher increases the number of rockets it fires. Killing an especially difficult enemy or a boss with this weapon resets the effect.

1 Atlas Replay

Borderlands 3 Atlas Replay legendary pistol

Many fans of Borderlands 3 tend to avoid guns with the Atlas branding, especially if they are the type that gets strapped to the player's wrist. However, this Atlas pistol packs a serious punch and encourages players to use its tracking bullet feature.

Each enemy that gets marked by this gun's tracker bullets will increase the gun's fire rate. The tracker bullets are also homing shots that will seek out enemies, making it easy to tag multiple enemies at once. The other fire mode shoots out smart bullets that will target whatever enemies are marked. The only downside this gun has is that it isn't as strong in a one-on-one fight.
