Borderlands 3 has unveiled the DLC content coming as part of the highly anticipated Director's Cut. Part of an announcement made via The Borderlands Show, the series' official podcast/stream, fans now also know when it will be arriving.

Gearbox Software's third primary installment of its popular looter-shooter franchise has enjoyed a dedicated player base since the game's release in September 2019. The Borderlands franchise as a whole has made headlines recently thanks to the upcoming live-action adaptation's divisive casting choices, recently adding Jamie-Lee Curtis to its cast.

Detailed in the latest episode of The Borderlands Show, the Director's Cut update will include a series of new story missions with a murder-mystery approach, as well as daily and weekly sets of missions. Beyond playable content, the update will also include a collection of behind-the-scenes material like concept art and storyboards. The behind-the-scenes content is said to include bloopers, bonus footage, and cut content. However the big reveal fans will take away from the stream is the return of legitimate Borderlands raid bosses. When the Director's Cut drops, players will have the chance to take on Hemovorous the Invincible - Borderlands 3's first full-fledged raid boss. The Borderlands Show Host Greg Miller notes that raid bosses were far and away one of the most requested additions from players.

Gamers will finally be able to unlock the door on Pandora - the one locked since Borderlands 3 launched - upon the arrival of the Director's Cut. The unlocked door acts as the gateway to the new content, but there is a bit of a catch. Players will need to have completed the main campaign and pay a toll of 500 Eridium each and every time they want to open it. Additionally, the stream revealed the details on the new Vault Cards, which appear to act as a battle pass system. The cards offer players exclusive rewards for completing daily and weekly challenges, including cosmetics and specialized loot matching the theme of the Vault Card.

The last major takeaway from the latest The Borderlands Show is another set of Multi-Verse cosmetics. The previous "Final Form" Multi-Verse Vault Hunter skins imagined what the protagonists would've looked liked had they never become Vault Hunters, while this new batch imagines essentially the opposite. Dubbed "Disciples of the Vault" the new cosmetic pack shows what they'd look like if they had fallen in with the Calypso cult that drives the main campaign story. It should be noted the new skins will arrive as part of the Season Pass 2.

The Borderlands 3 Director's Cut is landing on March 18. While it may be over a month away, doing another run-through of the other post-launch content could suffice in the meantime, especially since there are plenty of hidden details Borderlands 3 players may have missed in Psycho Krieg and The Fantastic Fustercluck.

Borderlands 3 Director's Cut will be available March 18, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
