The return of Gearbox's iconic loot shooter series with Borderlands 3 has fans plenty hyped, and today they got more to be excited over. A new trailer for Borderlands 3 made an appearance at Microsoft's E3 2019 conference, highlighting the new characters and their abilities in their fight against the Children of the Vault cult in Borderlands 3.

The four new characters players will be able to choose from are Moze the Gunner, Amara the Siren, FL4K the Beastmaster, and Zane Flynt the Operative. According to the new trailer, Lilith - the playable Siren from Borderlands 1 - needs their help after losing her Siren abilities.

Moze storms into the battle in what looks to be like a custom mech suit that she can call up to her aid at will. Amara, as previously shown, creates multiple arms with immense power using her Siren abilities that also appear to be able to clear a crowd easily. FL4K the Beastmaster can summon up multiple monsters to help him in his offensive pushes. Finally, Zane Flynt sets up a Digi-Clone decoy of himself, allowing him to sneak around enemies to deliver devastating attacks, similarly to that of Zer0 from Borderlands 2.

The trailer doesn't offer up much information regarding Lilith's loss of powers, but that's presumably what Gearbox's new Borderlands 2 DLC is there for. The new campaign, titled Commander Lilith & The Fight for Sanctuary, will be free to players who have Borderlands 2 or Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is also now a part of the Xbox One Game Pass, meaning gamers who haven't bought it previously will also get a chance to check it out before Borderlands 3 drops.

Borderlands 3 is looking to be one of the biggest games of the year, and will give other loot shooters a run for its money. It hasn't been without controversy itself, however. The game has recast multiple actors, and physical assault allegations have been made against Randy Pitchford by Claptrap's former voice actor. Fans of the series have also had mixed responses to the game being made available on PC via the Epic Store first, with it only coming to Steam later. The game itself is unlikely to be impacted by these problems, however.
