This morning, Gearbox Software made a number of announcements about its highly-popular looter shooter, Borderlands 3. One of these announcements revealed that a new event, Borderlands 3's Broken Hearts Day, is coming to the game later this month, and Gearbox confirmed that this event will include a nice QoL feature that was not available during the title's last seasonal offering.

Specifically, players will be able to toggle the Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Day event on and off at their discretion, and while this may seem like an insignificant feature to some fans, those that participated in the Bloody Harvest event last fall may feel otherwise. Indeed, there was no way to simply activate and deactivate Bloody Harvest during its run, and by the end of the event many players had grown quite tired of its inescapable nature.

That said, the Borderlands 3 Bloody Harvest event lasted for more than one full month, and it had a notable impact on the game overall. Broken Hearts Day, on the other hand, is scheduled to occur for just a single week, and the changes it will make seem to be less significant than what was seen during Bloody Harvest. Even still, some fans may simply wish to avoid BL3's Broken Hearts Day altogether, and they will be able to do exactly that thanks to the new toggle feature.

With respect to exactly what players will be toggling on and off, the Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Day will see enemies spawn with hearts floating around them. Fans will be tasked with breaking these hearts, and they will receive rewards based on the number of hearts that they break during the event. As examples, those that break just 10 hearts will receive a special ECHO skin, while those that break 100 will unlock the Wedding Invitation, a Borderlands 3 sniper rifle.

The Broken Hearts Day event will also see the Borderlands 3 level cap increase from 50 to 53. This is, of course, a change that will remain active in BL3 past the seasonal event, but players can use Broken Hearts Day as a way to grind out these new levels and obtain some brand new level 53 loot.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
