Borderlands 3 players have a lot to be excited about, as the game’s Director’s Cut DLC has been confirmed to arrive next month. However, Borderlands 3 fans will not have to wait weeks for new content to play, as the Broken Hearts Day Event is making a comeback tomorrow.

Before the Borderlands 3 community is taking on a raid boss and solving murder mysteries with Ava through the game's new expansion, they can take down some lovesick enemies via the returning Broken Hearts Day event. Much like the skulls of Bloody Harvest, shooting the hearts floating above enemy heads will see special rewards dropping for players. Like other events, these special enemy types will spawn in nearly every area of the main game and DLC while the event is active, though it can be turned off at any time.

Players can unlock several rewards from the event, including two exclusive legendary weapons. Maliwan’s Terminal Polyaimorous SMG can be obtained during the event’s run time, with the gun offering both shock and fire elemental damage. The Wedding Invitation sniper rifle from Jakobs will also be available, with the weapon widely regarded as one of Borderlands 3’s best sniper rifles prior to the increased level cap making it worthless. With players now able to get a maxed out version of the gun, though, it should become a powerful part of several arsenals once again.

The event also includes some recolored cosmetics, with the Vault Hunter outfits from last season keeping their heart pattern but being given a red look to change things up from 2020’s pink design. Aside from new outfits for Fl4k, Amara, Moze, and Zane, players will be able to get their hands on a recolored echo, with the device being almost entirely red apart from some pink accents. The heart-shaped weapon trinket from the event’s last appearance swaps the rainbow center for pink, with the purple outline changed to red.

Players can hunt down the legendary weapons and cosmetic items for the next two weeks, with the event running from February 11 to February 25. Like with Borderlands’ other seasonal events, players will likely be able to unlock the cosmetic items by completing several seasonal challenges. As for the weapons, these will drop exclusively from the enemies that have hearts floating above them, meaning that they could drop for players right away or require some extensive grinding.

With the previous version of Broken Hearts Day giving players access to an effective legendary loot farm in the Cistern of Slaughter, it will be interesting to see if Gearbox leaves the farm intact for this year’s version. If it does, Broken Hearts Day 2021 could be just as fun as it was last year, giving players access to an abundance of loot.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
