Update 4/3: The Borderlands 3 box art has been officially revealed by Gearbox Software, and it looks like the leak was correct. Original story follows.

It seems that Gearbox Software just cannot catch a break when it comes to Borderlands 3 leaksFirst came the class and story detail leak just ahead of the official announcement, then the release date leak, and now it seems that the official box art has surfaced. Alongside the box art also comes a list of the various versions of the game that will be available for purchase.

The box art showcases an interesting spin on the classic Borderlands model. Much like previous installments, the box art features a Psycho, but in a decidedly less violent pose. Surrounded by a wreath of guns and bathed in the light of the vault symbol, this take on the Psycho is certainly interesting, to say the least.

Much like the Borderlands 3 reveal trailer, this box art is filled with small details that take a few glances to unpack. The flowers in front of the Psycho are filled with the faces of many iconic characters of the game, including the Calypsos and the new Vault Hunters. A ship can also be seen flying away above the Psycho, further hinting at the possibility of planetary travel in the game.

Several different images are part of the leak, showcasing the different versions of the game. It seems there will be four different versions of Borderlands 3: the base game, Deluxe Edition, Super Deluxe Edition, and the Diamond Loot Chest Collector's Edition. These versions may be revealed in tomorrow's official Borderlands 3 announcement. While the leak does not showcase what is included with each of the Deluxe Editions, it does list what is included in the Collector's Edition:

  • Diamond Loot Chest Replica
  • Sanctuary 3 Snap Model
  • 10 Character Figurines
  • 5 Character Art Lithographs
  • 4 Vault Key Keychains
  • Cloth Map of the Galaxy
  • Borderlands 3 Base Game
  • Steelbook Case
  • Season Pass
  • Deluxe Bonus Content
  • Gold Weapon Skins Pack

This information is from a leak so it should be taken with a grain of salt until it is officially confirmed by Gearbox Software. The official Gearbox Twitter account even responded to the leak, stating that fans will just have to tune in to tomorrow's announcement to find out if it is real or not. Some fans are excited for the announcement so they can find out when the official release date is, and if other leaks are to believe then the Borderlands 3 release date is coming sooner than fans expect.

It seems that leaks coming just before big reveals is a growing trend for Borderlands 3. Much of the game's big reveals were spoiled by leaks just before the big announcements. Hopefully, major leaks will start to subside so there will be some mystery left for when the game launches later this year.

Borderlands 3 is currently in development for unspecified platforms.
