Several days ago, it was discovered that a Twitch channel for Borderlands had been hosting an altered version of Borderlands 3's box art, which was hiding has a secret message hinting at a boss from the first game potentially making a return to the forthcoming sequel. Now, it looks as if the first-person shooter franchise's developer, Gearbox Software, has decided to put out yet another version of the key artwork for the game with even more secrets to uncover.

In the bottom right-hand corner of the image found further below, the Borderlands 3 art in question yields a code in the form of what initially appears to be a nonsensical string of numbers, but actually can be translated into text. Apparently, it's a secret hidden message that reads, “We don’t speak of Sanctuary 2,” which seems to be a reference to Sanctuary, the main hub in Borderlands 2. With this being the case, perhaps an updated version of the area will make an appearance in Borderlands 3.

Another teaser can be found at the top of the newly released Borderlands 3 image, with there being a rocket ship soaring into the sky. This vessel will presumably be the vehicle by which players will traverse the various planets of the game since Pandora won't be the sole setting. Around the top of the ship are the three symbols of a smiley face, an equals sign, and a key, which appears to translate to "happiness is key", but it's anyone's guess at this point as to what exactly this phrase could be referring to.

Then there's one more secret hidden at the base of the image within the roses, as there's a petal labeled with the word "Sirens," which could be a hint at the significance of the mystical character types within Borderlands 3's story. This particular find may not bear too much fruit, but it is worth noting that the forthcoming sequel's villains in the Calypso Twins seem to both be Sirens, and they will undoubtedly impact the plot in some way.

Bearing everything here in mind, it's a wonder how all of these secrets in Borderlands 3's latest version of key art will add up. Perhaps Gearbox Software will unpack some of these hidden messages come May 1, 2019, which is when the studio plans on holding the title's gameplay reveal event.

Borderlands 3 is currently scheduled to release on September 13, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
