Typhon Logs are historical records produced by famed Vault Hunter Typhon Deleon in Borderlands 3. They act as an unofficial record of the man’s experiences and events occurring around the galaxy during his exploits.

The logs found in the Meridian Metroplex are particularly interesting as they give greater insight into the man and the First Vault that was ever found. Here are some of the more interesting things players can learn from these particular logs.

10 Typhon Grew Up On Pandora

It’s revealed that the famed Vault Hunter grew up on Pandora. This is notable given that not many famous or prominent individuals are known to come from Pandora. People certainly get their start there or gain fame on Pandora, but few that were born there go on to greatness.

It’s revealed in other logs that Typhon was the child of turd farmers and fled the planet shortly after their deaths to find a better life for himself. It’s interesting that for a planet derided for being a backwater full of simpletons it ended up producing the greatest explorer to ever live.

9 He Gained Experience Exploring Eridian Ruins On Pandora

In fact it could be argued that Typhon’s time on Pandora, however brief, gave him both the experience and ambition to become an explorer. Across Pandora were a number of Eridian Ruins that Typhon spent his childhood exploring.

It’s no small coincidence that he would go on to hunt down alien artifacts and ruins on other planets. It’s unclear if he actually found anything as a child or merely explored the ruins.

8 Typhon Was Left For Dead By His Business Partner Azlan DeVega

In one of the logs, it’s revealed Typhon had a business partner named Azlan DeVega. Typhon describes him as a “partner/nemesis” and it’s not hard to see why. During a trip through the Kasmarian Quarry, Typhon wandered onto some brittlerock and fell into a hole.

Rather than help him, Azlan grabbed his stuff and said, “Nice knowin’ ya. DeLeon.”. Unfortunately for Azlan what Typhon found in that hole would prove to be far more valuable than anything that could have possibly been in his stolen inventory.

7 First Vault Was Found By Accident

At the bottom of that brittlerock pit was an Eridian vault, the first ever found by mankind. It’s likely Typhon knew the presence of Eridian ruins in the area, given he and his business partner were there wandering around, but unlikely he had ever seen or heard of a Vault before.

Other bits of lore suggest the planet this first Vault was accidentally found on was Promethea. What brought Typhon to that planet is unclear and never revealed in the Logs.

6 The Vault Key Was Sitting At The Entrance

Not only did Typhon stumble across the Vault entirely by accident but he also found the Key to the Vault sitting nearby. Typically the Keys are kept separate for obvious security and safety reasons, but this one was located right by the front door.

This incredible fortune left Typhon not only with a vault stashed to the brim with alien weapons technology but the very key needed to open it. Which makes the next entry all the more surprising.

5 Typhon Did Not Open The Vault

According to Typhon he never set foot into the Vault and never once tried to open it. Instead of cracking it open and exploring inside he found his way out of the cave and turned the Key over to the Atlas corporation for a vast sum of money.

Granted this was probably for the best given how heavily defended Vaults are and the event no doubt set him up for life financially. But it’s surprising that an explorer who had a childhood of plumbing ruins wouldn’t at least take a peek inside. Perhaps he knew better, he was on contract from the Atlas corporation, or he simply lied about not looking.

4 Typhon Deleon Was The First Vault Hunter

After turning in the Key to the Atlas corporation they quickly got to work branding his image and spreading the news throughout the stars. As the man explains he was quickly known as Typhon The First Vault Hunter.

It’s likely the details about how he found the First Vault were either kept vague or embellished for marketing reasons. In the end Typhon found himself highly desired by other corporations and individuals to replicate his discovery.

3 His Partner Expected Half

Incredibly his old partner Azlan suddenly appeared at his door demanding to receive half of the payment given him by the Atlas Corporation. This demand was made under the logic that as he was his business partner at the time of the discovery he deserved half.

Typhon made it clear that they were no longer partners and he was acting independently. Azlan’s fate is unknown, but given Typhon had the Atlas station at the site of the Vault named after his partner to ridicule him it’s likely Azlan left Typhon’s home alive.

2 Atlas Was Nearly Wiped Out

An interesting bit of lore revealed in these Logs is that the Atlas corporation came very close to being wiped out as a result of the Corporate Wars. The Corporate Wars were a large scale battle between the various megacorporations that saw the evaporation of more traditional government and paved the way for a type of Feudal Corporatism.

Atlas suffered greatly during this war and was struggling to stay afloat afterward. What the factions were during this war, which corporations were destroyed and which group Atlas belonged to, if any, is unknown.

1 Atlas Was Using Explorers To Recover

In an attempt to stay solvent Atlas was hiring explorers to conduct expeditions on their behalf. It’s unclear if Atlas was expecting to find alien technology or if they were merely seeking planets rich with resources.

The discovery made by Typhon was of massive benefit to Atlus as they quickly opened the Vault to find it loaded with alien weapons. They managed to reverse engineer this tech and mass-produce highly advanced weaponry resulting in huge gains both in terms of power and financially.
