Borderlands 2 is, for many players, the highlight of the series. Nine years after release, players are still picking up the game and enjoying the many story quests and side missions for the first time. When not hunting for the best weapons in the game, there is a lot of content to keep players entertained, including a fun murder mystery.

In the Won't Get Fooled Again quest, players will get a good example of the subtle and fun writing that can make Borderlands 2 so interesting. This is a Level 16 side mission that will be available in Sanctuary. Numerous people will be discovered around the body of Justin McCready, and after speaking with Marshall Friedman, players will need to discover he killed him. Everyone knows it was one of the Gutter Brothers, but nobody knows which one.

There will be three NPCs that players need to speak with, and they will all have interesting bits of information about the killer. Marshall Friedman will be very near the crime scene. Speaking with him will reveal that the victim was killed with a single shot. Moxxi, who can be found at her bar, will inform players that the killer had a shield. Finally, Dr. Zed, who is located at the medical center in Sanctuary, will let players know that he patched up the killer.

This gives players everything they need to know to make the correct choice. By examining the four Gutter Brothers, players will notice that only Barlo Gutter has full health, a shield, and the means to kill McCready in a single shot. All players need to do is accuse Barlo of the murder, and Mashall Friedman will take care of the rest.

Overall, Won't Get Fooled Again is a simple mission without much risk. Players who plan to take on tougher challenges may want to spend some time thinking about the best character for solo or co-op mode, depending on how they plan to play Borderlands 2. It is, however, a fun little mission that certainly adds some charm to Sanctuary.

With the Borderlands movie on the way, more and more players are jumping back into the older titles to familiarize themselves with the story beats and character arcs that they may have forgotten over the years. Thankfully, the huge variety of missions in Borderlands 2 means that game has held up extremely well over the years.

Borderlands 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
