Bob's Burgers has spent 11 seasons cementing its rightful place among other beloved FOX cartoons like The Simpsons and Family Guy. Fans have eagerly awaited the arrival of Bob's Burger: The Movie since it was announced, and now creator Loren Bouchard is giving them something to hold on to.

The animated show about the Belcher family and their humble burger restaurant has already been renewed for a season 12 and 13, which has fans wondering when they can expect the movie to drop in theaters. The Bob's Burgers movie was first announced in 2017 and was originally slated for release in July 2020, but it was pushed back until April 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was then further delayed and removed from the Disney release schedule without a specific date listed.

Bouchard spoke to Collider about updates on the Bob's Burgers movie and he's here to reassure fans that the film is still very much going to be released, just not right at this moment. He states that he's very excited about releasing the film into the world "at the right time." The right time he's referring to has everything to do with audiences embracing theatrical releases in the aftermath of COVID-19. Most theaters only began reopening in the last few months, and Bouchard made it clear he isn't ready to release Bob's Burgers: The Movie until audiences feel completely safe and comfortable in theaters.

He finished his statement with, "We don't have a date yet, we'll announce very soon. But we are hard at work on it." Bouchard is also hard at work on several other projects, including The Great North and Central Park, both of which were renewed for season 2. There are currently no plot details about Bob's Burgers: The Movie, though it is labeled as being in post-production on IMDb and will still star H. Jon Benjamin as Bob, Kristen Schaal as Louise, Dan Mintz as Tina, Eugene Mirman as Gene, and John Roberts as Linda.

Bob's Burgers officially became a member of the Mickey Mouse family when Disney acquired 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets. Of course, the Bob's Burgers movie will be released under the newly rebranded 20th Century Studios banner.

Until Bouchard or Disney comes forward with a formal release date, fans can watch the first 11 seasons, including the celebrated Thanksgiving and holiday episodes of Bob's Burgers, which many consider some of the best on TV. Plus, with vaccinations continuing and the world gradually reopening, Disney may feel comfortable setting a new release date for the movie sooner rather than later.

Bob's Burgers is now available to stream on Hulu.
