There are a lot of characters in Bob’s Burgers but Bob is essentially the main character. His name is in the title. While not every episode revolves around him, he is the central figure for everyone to go back to. It doesn’t matter if Linda has her own thing going on or if the kids are adventuring somewhere else.

Bob will always be right there, manning the grill while trying to keep an open mind. He has a lot of great episodes where the cartoon does put him in the spotlight more clearly though. These are just a few of the ones that should be celebrated.

8 Sheesh Cab, Bob

Bob from Bob’s Burgers

“Sheesh Cab, Bob” is an early episode of Bob’s Burgers. Tina wants to have a boy-girl party for her big thirteenth. Bob goes to Mr. Fischoeder hoping he will excuse their rent for a bit so that Tina can have a big expensive party.

Mr. Fischoeder denies the request but instead offers Bob an extra job as a taxi driver. Bob soon becomes acquainted with the nightlife of his town. It may seem rough at first but Bob meets some great friends along the way like Marshmallow. Does Tina get the party she deserves though?

7 The Oeder Games

This is another fun episode centered around one of Mr. Fischoeder’s zany propositions. He raises everyone’s rent, hoping they would come to his house as he had an ulterior motive. When they do, Bob steps forward to represent everyone.

Mr. Fischoeder decides to lower rent down again, but only to the business owner that wins his game of death water balloons. If the title wasn’t obvious already, the episode is based on The Hunger Games series. Bob tries his best to keep everyone together but slowly loses his sanity along the way. It is a priceless Bob moment.

6 The Last Gingerbread House On The Left

“The Last Gingerbread House On The Left” is the final scheme episode focused on both Mr. Fischoeder and Bob. The stakes seem smaller though. All Mr. Fischoeder wants is for Bob to throw in the towel during their gingerbread house game.

Every year Mr. Fischoeder comes in last place and is humiliated in front of his rich friends. If Bob folds, he will get rent excused for a good amount of time. However, even Bob has his breaking point and there’s a big twist toward the end which turns this low-stakes venture into something greater. It is an odd Christmas episode but a funny one.

5 Bob Day Afternoon

“Bob Day Afternoon” introduces two characters that would come back quite often in Bob’s Burgers: Mickey and Sergeant Bosco. The two of them even make it into the movie. Mickey decides to rob a bank across the street, holding everyone hostage.

The police use Bob’s restaurant as a headquarters against Bob’s wishes. When Mickey refuses the pizza they send over from Jimmy Pesto’s place, Bob is sent in with burgers instead, thus entangling him even more. It’s a wild day for poor old Bob who only wants a normal day making burgers.

4 Bob And Deliver

“Bob and Deliver” allows Bob to teach kids how to cook. The Home Economics teacher is out so Mr. frond offers the position to Bob in the meantime. The kids seem interested in Bob’s lessons, especially Zeke, who sort of finds himself.

It’s a fun episode with some good valuable lessons until the lunch ladies turn into a crime gang toward the end. Does Bob back down from teaching the kids how to cook because he gets threatened or does he do the noble thing?

3 The Hurt Soccer

“The Hurt Soccer” is a great episode on many fronts. In many ways, it’s like a return to Home Movies. One of the creators of Bob’s Burgers, Loren Bouchard, helped make that cartoon. H. Jon Benjamin, who voices Bob, played a soccer coach in the cartoon.

He was terrible at his job but Bob tries to teach Louise’s team how to win a game. He’s also terrible but not mean in the least. Melissa Bardin Galsky, who played Melissa in Home Movies, even returns to play a new character on Louise’s team named Mara. If this wasn’t an overt callback to Home Movies then it would be a surprise.

2 Late Afternoon In The Garden Of Bob And Louise

Bob from Bob’s Burgers

“Late Afternoon in the Garden of Bob and Louise” sees Bob at his happiest. He doesn’t want a lot from life. He wants to make burgers and make people happy while earning money to make his family happy. In exchange for taking Logan in as a waiter at the restaurant, Bob gets a plot of land in the city garden.

He finally gets to grow fresh veggies for his burgers. It even brings Bob to sing “Happy Crappy Place”, one of Bob’s Burgers’ best songs. Unfortunately, Linda and Louise hate it because both Logan and his mom, Cynthia, are annoying them. Can Bob learn to cope without his garden in the end?

1 Glued, Where's My Bob

Bob from Bob’s Burgers

“Glued, Where's My Bob” has another one of Bob’s Burgers’ best songs with “Bad Stuff Happens in the Bathroom.” The episode begins with Bob getting notified he’s going to be interviewed for a magazine. When he goes to the bathroom to get ready, he finds he can’t get up from the toilet seat.

Louise had previously put glue on there so that Gene could potty in peace per Gene’s request. One thing leads to another and the restaurant gets flooded with people who want to both mock and help Bob out of his predicament. Even Teddy is stumped by this disaster.
