Since Blumhouse releases so many horror movies each year, it's inevitable that many of their films gets sequels, and the production company is also known for popular franchises like Paranormal Activity and The Purge. While sometimes sequels fall flat and there can be mixed results, fans generally like getting the chance to spend more time with favorite characters. But there are definitely some stand-alone films that deserve to be explored further, whether a character is particularly compelling or there's a fresh setting that could be added.

From slashers to haunted house stories, there are several Blumhouse horror movies that need sequels, as it feels like there is still more to say when it comes to these terrifying films.

Hush (2016)Maddie Young In Hush

Whether or not fans agree that The Midnight Club is Mike Flanagan's scariest show, one thing is for sure: the filmmaker has put out some incredible content. His 2016 film Hush stars Kate Siegel as Maddie Young, a deaf writer who is home alone when a killer appears.

Hush is definitely one of the best modern slashers and it would be great to get the chance to see Maddie again as she's such an intelligent character. The sequel could change things up and be a supernatural film, or it could be another slasher where Maddie is in another location, like on vacation.

Ma (2019)

Octavia Spencer as Sue Ann in Ma

Octavia Spencer plays a convincing villain in Ma, the 2019 Blumhouse horror movie. Spencer portrays Sue Ann Ellington, who meets Maggie Thompson (Diana Silvers) and her high school friends. Sue Ann suggests that they hang out in the basement of her home since they want a place without adult supervision.

Ma is a well-made movie and Spencer's performance is impressive as she portrays a lonely and miserable woman who carries around scars of being bullied when she was younger. Maggie is also a solid horror movie main character as she wants the freedom that many teenagers yearn for and she is intelligent and wants to fit in but also has her own mind. A sequel would make a lot of sense as it could follow Maggie as she finds herself in another creepy situation. The sequel could be a slasher about Maggie's senior year of high school or could even feature her attending college to make the setting different.

You Should Have Left (2020)

Amanda Seyfried as Susanna and Kevin Bacon as Theo standing in a house in You Should Have Left

If wondering if it's possible to make an original haunted house movie, You Should Have Left starring Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried is definitely a unique thriller about a haunted house. Theo and Susanna go on vacation with their daughter and they make stunning discoveries about their marriage and also about the home where they're staying.

The end of the film suggests that this creepy yet beautiful home invites certain people there and doesn't let go unless it has what it wants, which suggests that a sequel would definitely be in order. A new set of characters could stay here and the sequel could explore more of the house's history and how it fits into the surrounding town.

Freaky (2020)

Vince Vaughn standing behind Kathryn Newton in Freaky

While there probably won't be a sequel to Freaky, it doesn't hurt to hope and it would definitely be a fun idea. In an interview with Comingsoon.net, the movie's director, Christopher Landon, said, "I don’t think it’s ever gonna happen, because I honestly don’t know if the studio has an appetite for a sequel. I think they’re quite comfortable with it being a standalone movie, and to be honest, I am too, because we didn’t really have an idea for a sequel."

Freaky is a fun, campy body-swap horror movie where Kathryn Newton's high school character Millie Kessler finds herself in the body of a middle-aged serial killer named The Blissful Butcher (Vince Vaughn). While the horror movie has a satisfying ending, it would still be cool to see a second film where the Butcher strikes again and swaps with someone else, maybe a teenage boy this time.

M3GAN (2023)

While the Blumhouse horror movie M3GAN will be released in January 2023, it sounds like so much fun that it's easy to imagine a sequel. Allison Williams stars as Gemma, who creates a robotic doll named M3GAN and who gives it to the niece who she is now taking care of after a tragic loss.

The M3GAN trailer shows the killer doll, who could be the subject of a second movie or even more, similar to the popular Child's Play films. M3GAN seems like a villain with staying power since she's as murderous as Chucky but also likes to dance, which adds a hilarious and fun element.
