Blue Lock is a sports anime that debuted in October 2022 during the fall anime season and has been one of the best-performing Shonen manga in Japan for years. Created by authors Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, the series was well received by millions of fans, having sold nearly two million copies. When the anime was announced, 8Bit studio was given the opportunity to bring the series to life, and since the first episode of the series aired, it has been a masterpiece of non-stop adrenaline.
Blue Lock follows the best of the best of Japan's soccer players who have been brought together to compete in a ruthless competition to find the best striker in the country. Players are put into teams based on their skill and must climb their way to the top in order to earn a chance to be on the united team. Allegiances and friendships don't matter, as anyone can be kicked out at any moment. The story follows the bottom-of-the-barrel, Team Z, which consists of several amazing players.

Naruhaya is one of the less talented players on Team Z. Quite often, Naruhaya can be found sneaking food or swiping it from his teammates when they aren't looking. While he is a dedicated teammate, he understands his own weaknesses and doesn't pretend to be stronger than he is.
On the field, Naruhaya tries his hardest to use his skills to the best of his abilities but often falls short of his own expectations compared to the rest of his teammates. Naruhayta stands one hundred and seventy-one centimeters tall and has an average body type. Being only sixteen years of age and the youngest of Team Z, Naruhaya was born on March 20.

Gagamaru is the coy giant of Team Z. He is very reserved and doesn't speak often, and he keeps it short when he does. More than likely, Gagamaru is wearing a somewhat spaced-out expression that leads one to believe that he is somewhere else in his head, but he is actually a very observant player.

To call Igarashi an underdog is a bit of an understatement. While he works harder than almost all of the other players on the field, he's one of the least talented and gets by on the field by the skin of his teeth most of the time. Hyoma Chigiri was a star player on his high school team. However, his presence faltered during his transition to Team Z at the Blue Lock center because of his previous injury. Chigiri carried an immense fear of re-injuring his leg and losing the ability to play soccer forever. However, Chigiri overcame his fear and unleashed his explosive speed on the field to score his team-high velocity goals.

Jingo Raichi

Being one of the oldest members of Team Z at seventeen years of age, Raichi is the foul-mouthed hothead of the series. While in his early appearances, he is shown to be all talk and no bite, as the team progresses, Raichi more that cements his place on the team. With a very aggressive personality and style of play, Raichi excels at unnerving his opponents, which pairs well with his strong defense and stamina.
Furthermore, while he does not do well in showing camaraderie with his teammates and scolds them constantly for every slight mistake, he is a loyal teammate nonetheless. Lemon is predominately the goalkeeper for the team but can also be a strong forward when required. While many of the players on Team Z have a select focus on their weapons, Lemon seems to be extremely versatile, calling himself a jack of all trades. Kunigami is a strong soccer player and one of the strongest members of Team Z, with a powerful weapon to make fast, long-distance goals. Kunigami is a very stoic young boy with high confidence for a seventeen-year-old.
Kunigami adapted to his new life in Blue Lock quickly, connecting with his new teammates instantly and understanding his responsibility as a player. Even though there were some rough patches during the team's first game, he does an excellent job of managing his teamwork with his own ego. Yoichi Isagi serves as the main protagonist of Blue Lock and the unofficial captain of Team Z during its beginning. Isagi shows unwavering dedication to his team and massive willpower to overcome insurmountable odds when faced with powerful opponents.
Isagi utilizes his spacial awareness to take control of the game. However, when Isagi's ego ignites, he becomes a shotmaker who is nearly unstoppable on the field. Isagi's personality is quite the opposite of his style of play. While he can be intense, he is usually very approachable. Imamura is another underwhelming member of Team Z who comes up short in overall performance when compared to his teammates. Imamura is a very good soccer player but does not have any unique skills or powerful weapons to be of use and make it further in Blue Lock.
