Bloody Hell Hotel is an interesting hotel management simulator that incorporates elements of farming games like Stardew Valley into the mix. Though as the title suggests, it comes with a twist. In Bloody Hell Hotel, the player is a centuries-old vampire that wakes up in their dilapidated estate. They then decide to convert the old structure into a hotel.

Now, as the operator of a budding hotel business, players need to spruce the place up, serve guests, and clean out the dungeons. With the lovely, Tim Burton-esque visuals, Bloody Hell Hotel is like Stardew Valley’s gothic older sibling – and definitely one worth watching out for.

Stardew Valley Meets Vampires in Bloody Hell Hotel

Bloody Hell Hotel has been described as Stardew Valley but imbued with vampiric horror. The game’s announcement trailer showcases fast-paced action, with the vampire character using mystical powers to sweep floors telekinetically, move furniture with a wave of their hand, and even zoom through hallways at incredible speeds. It’s a fun and unique take on management sim mechanics, so the title already has that going for it.

Once the hotel is up and running, the player must also attend to the guests. This means growing crops, foraging for cooking ingredients, and caring for undead farm animals. The game’s Steam page even hints that the player can cook dishes with human meat in them. It’s reminiscent of Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon – just delightfully morbid, which makes it Tim Burton-esque both aesthetically and conceptually. Though, of course, the patrons aren’t the only ones who need nourishment. The player character needs blood to regenerate their powers, so it’s essential to feed on the hotel guests.

Finally, the lower floors of the estate are home to monster-infested dungeons, where the player can find more resources to upgrade the hotel. However, they’ll need to craft their own weapons, and this can be done right on the estate grounds. Once down in the subterranean dungeons, the game’s first-person perspective makes combat and exploration more exciting. The monsters aren’t cute like Stardew Valley’s slimes, either, as true to the game’s visual aesthetic, the player must face off against goofy-looking zombies and top hat-wearing skeletons.

When the cash starts coming in, the player can then hire other vampires to watch over the hotel for them. All it takes is a reasonable salary and perhaps a bit of fresh blood. Delegating the more repetitive tasks should allow the player to explore more of the hotel and focus on its improvements. It’s the classic management sim gameplay loop but with a touch of horror to keep it on-brand.

Based on the contents of the trailer and the game’s description, Bloody Hell Hotel could be an innovative take on the management sim genre. The main character’s vampiric powers open plenty of possibilities for gameplay features and mechanics. Combine that with a gothic yet cartoony art style, and it’s bound to entice players. Hopefully, the game’s management aspects and dungeon-crawling levels live up to the community’s expectations. After all, its unique premise makes it a game worth playing.

That said, the developer has yet to release a gameplay preview for Bloody Hell Hotel. As such, it would be wise for excited players to temper their expectations for the upcoming title. While the announcement trailer appears to showcase gameplay, this still isn’t confirmed. Until the developer releases another video showcasing actual gameplay, players can’t be too sure of the title’s quality just yet. Even then, it’s worth keeping an eye on, and it is slated for release “when it’s bloody awesome” (as detailed on the game’s Steam page).

Bloody Hell Hotel is currently in development.
