When Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night released back in June, many fans took issue with the quality of the game's port to the Nintendo Switch. Bloodstained developer ArtPlay promptly addressed these fans, indicating that it would "be shifting resources to improve performance and stability for the Switch." Now, 505 Games, the publisher of Bloodstained, has offered a brief update on these improvements.

Specifically, it is indicated that the current goal is to bundle all fixes to the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Switch port into a single patch. Previously, it was stated that a number of smaller patches would resolve the issues with the Bloodstained Switch port over time, but it seems that this is no longer the plan.

With respect to when this Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Switch patch will be released, the publisher indicates that there is currently no firm ETA. While both WayForward and Epic are providing resources and assisting with the patch, 505 describes its preparation as a "slow process" and promises to provide an update when a more concrete release window is available.

Concerning the issues that this Bloodstained Switch patch will likely address, fans have voiced concerns about the port's inconsistent framerate, input delay, blurry textures, and more. Certainly, many players expect that games will run less smoothly on Switch than they do on other, more powerful consoles, but some feel that the performance issues with Bloodstained on Switch are beyond what is acceptable.

bloodstained switch port update

While players wait for this performance-focused Bloodstained patch, another new update has recently been made available to those playing on Switch. Update 1.02 offers some bug fixes, but primarily it brings a number of balance changes to the game.

These Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night balance changes include tweaks to the power levels of shards, weapons, familiars, and Bloodstained bosses. So too, the crafting materials required for Flame Cannon have been changed, and the drop rate of "Monster Fur" from Simians has been increased.

While these types of changes may not be exactly what fans want to see coming to Bloodstained for Switch, they may at least improve aspects of gameplay in preface of the forthcoming performance-improving patch. Additionally, the developer's attempt to establish a more solid foundation for gameplay is sensible, as Bloodstained DLC will look to expand on the experience at some point in the future.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
