It's rolling up to the first anniversary of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night's launch. To celebrate the upcoming date, publisher 505 Games is providing incentives for another playthrough.
The most recent update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night gives players the chance to play as a fan favorite. The "Zangetsu" update is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. This allows players to tackle the game as the update's titular character, bringing a whole new way of battling the demonic hordes.
The Kickstarter page explains that in order for players to use the samurai, they must first complete the game and achieve the "Good Ending." With those out of the way, players are treated to a whole new style of play. The update notes that Zangetsu will be a vastly different experience. It will be an up close and personal affair in terms of combat with some abilities that will consume MP. For this playthough, many elements will be disabled including equipment, quests, crafting, and cut scenes.
Coming along with the Zangetsu update is the long awaited inclusion of a Randomizer Mode. The update page goes into more detail on all the changes that can convert the experience to the players whim. One of the nicer bonuses of the new update is being able to hear the soothing sound of voice actor David Hayter grunt throughout the playthrough as Zangetsu.
Noticeably absent from the list of platform releases is the Nintendo Switch. According 505 Games, the update will hit the Switch version before the end of May. This is based on the most recent news as there were multiple dates announced as to when the update would be available on the Nintendo Switch. This continues the trend of the Switch port being the roughest version of the game with a bevvy of issues. Hopefully the Zangetsu update doesn't cause any more technical problems on the platform.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
