One of the most surprising titles of 2019 was Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The latest title from long-time Castlevania franchise producer Koji Igarashi, Bloodstained launched with a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign in 2015. As a result, the team at ArtPlay has continued to update the game with new content, as promised during the Kickstarter campaign through stretch goals, including the Boss Revenge mode and Chroma Wheel customization options, both of which are available today.

The Boss Revenge mode allows users to play as one of Bloodstained's major bosses, Andrealphus, Bathin, Bloodless or Gremory, as they face up against the game's protagonists, Miriam, Zangetsu, and Dominique in a boss rush mode. Between each encounter the player will be given the opportunity to rest in a transition room, while all of the bosses can also use their unique attacks from the main game.

The "Chroma Wheel" pertains to the game's character customization. While in the main game players were only able to choose from a specific set of colors to customize Bloodstained's protagonist, Miriam, the chroma wheel allows them to pick any amount of color combinations to fully customize Miriam's look. These options apply to Miriam's hair, including a newly added sub-hair color option, her outfit, her eyes and skin color.

To accommodate these updates, the developer has also made certain modes available from the beginning of Bloodstained, regardless if they have a completed save file or not. The modes are the speedrun mode, the randomizer mode, the newly added boss revenge mode, and the ability to play as Zangetsu. The only modes that still require completion to access are the boss rush mode, and hard and nightmare difficulty options.

Bloodstained: Rital of the Night is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
