It has been almost a year since the vampire-centric hack-and-slash video game BloodRayne was re-released as BloodRayne: Terminal Cut on Steam in November 2020. Now, the development team makes news online once again, announcing that the title will be making its way back to console platforms in 2021. Finally, console owners will be able to take the reigns as the main half-vampire protagonist Rayne, but now on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One.

The first and second BloodRayne titles were originally launched in 2002 - 2003 for most available gaming platforms at the time such as the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC devices. A third title which was first released in 2011, BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites, was recently remastered and released on September 9, 2021, allowing a new generation of vampire game fans to step into Rayne's bloody shoes. With the remastered titles now accessible on next-gen consoles, BloodRayne's developers likely thought that this was an opportune moment for reintroducing the first two titles to a possible fresh batch of gamers.

On Twitter, BloodRayne publisher Ziggurat Interactive made an announcement that BloodRayne 1 and 2 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One during Fall 2021. The remastered editions will be called BloodRayne ReVamped, likely intending an emphasis on the updates that will be included in the console editions. Given that the PC's Terminal Cut editions provided experiential upgrades, it is likely such updates will be included in the remastered console versions. These updates have been confirmed by Ziggurat Interactive, and will include 4K resolutions, improved cutscene visuals, and even localization options such as Japanese voice acting for the original BloodRayne ReVamped.

Ziggurat Interactive also shared that physical editions of BloodRayne ReVamped will be made available in the market for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Limited Run Games, the same company that handled the physical release of BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites, will be handling the sales and distribution of the physical copies. This is likely great news for fans who prefer to have an actual cartridge or disc to add to their personal video game collection.

As of writing, no official word of the actual release date of BloodRayne Revamped has been announced by Ziggurat Interactive. However, given that BloodRayne has been seen making a comeback to modern gaming, many of the series's fans now have high hopes for a fourth BloodRayne video game. Hopefully the developers take notice and announce something new to generate more excitement about the series.

BloodRayne ReVamped will release on PS4, Switch, and Xbox One this Fall 2021.
