As it has for the past few Septembers, many are expecting Sony to host a full-blown PlayStation Showcase sometime in the coming month. Rumors are a dime-a-dozen when it comes to this, of course, but rather reliable information marks the calendar for September 8. It should be taken with a grain of salt, as all leaks should be, but a PlayStation Showcase on September 8 makes some sense. Of course, there are a lot of events in the coming weeks too, so while it may be close to those, Sony may be trying to get ahead of the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, the Ubisoft Forward, and so on.

Fans could reasonably expect God of War Ragnarok to be there, perhaps more information about the PS5 DualSense Edge controller, and a variety of other games extending from this fall throughout 2023 (and perhaps beyond). However, event after event, there is one thing fans often hope for. It's not necessarily more likely to appear at the reportedly coming PlayStation Showcase more than it ever was before, but fans are hoping to see Bloodborne info at the PS Showcase after an in-game message.

It's no secret that fans want Bloodborne to come to PC or at least get some form of PS5 upgrade for 60 FPS, even if it wasn't a proper remaster or remake. Its name comes up often with rumors like these, just because so many fans hail it as one of the best games of the PS4 generation. And the timing of the PlayStation Showcase rumors coincides nicely with an incoming and seemingly oddly timed update for Bloodborne.

An in-game message has confirmed the game will go down for an update on August 31, with the maintenance lasting around four hours. Players won't even be able to check out Bloodborne offline during the timings listed below.

Bloodborne getting an update days before a rumored PlayStation Showcase could be indicative of some form of announcement, or at the very least, that's what many fans are hoping. If the PlayStation Showcase is revealed relatively soon too, that'll only add fuel to the fire. But for now, as with every Bloodborne rumor and PlayStation event, this does seem more likely to be a pipe dream.

After all, this is likely a coincidence. It is more likely that this is just a routine database and server maintenance update than anything hinting at a PS Showcase reveal. All games get updates like these, and perhaps it's even more likely with FromSoftware Soulsborne games right now because of its recent restoration of Dark Souls 3's online servers. Nonetheless, many still cling to this update as hope that Sony will do something with Bloodborne soon.

Bloodborne is available on PS4.
