Many fans have been infatuated with Bloodborne ever since it released back in 2015. This popularity is seemingly what drove a small team to "demake" Bloodborne in the style of a PlayStation 1 game.

"Demaking" games is a relatively recent trend that effectively entails remaking a game into a lower polygon version to enable it to run on older and weaker hardware. A few interesting titles have gotten the demake treatment recently such as Resident Evil 7 but the latest game to feature a demake is FromSoftware's PS4 exclusive, Bloodborne.

The people behind the Bloodborne PS1 demake are Lilith Walther and Corwyn Prichard, who have been working on the game in some form or another since 2017. The game is being developed in the Unreal Engine and is set to be in full HD with an uncapped framerate albeit in 32-bit graphics. The demake will, unfortunately, only go as far as the second boss in the game, Father Gascoigne, which is still rather impressive considering the scale of the task at hand and the size of the team working on it. According to Walther, the most difficult mechanic to recreate were the game's visceral attacks.

The Bloodborne PS1 demake was given a January 31 release date and all signs point to this being the case as Walther confirmed this herself via Twitter. The strange thing is that there are currently no confirmed platforms or websites that the game is set to be distributed on. This means that gamers looking forward to playing the Bloodborne demake will have to keep an eye on Walther's Twitter page for any updates regarding this information.

Walther and her team also decided have to some fun with the Bloodborne demake by including cheats. FromSoftware titles have become known for being notoriously difficult and with the inclusion of cheats, fans will now be able to take out their frustrations on some of the enemies that gave them a hard time in their first playthrough of the game. Some of the cheats that will feature in the demake include a time dilation cheat that changes the speed of the game, a mode that makes enemy dogs stop attacking, as well as a "big head" cheat, which is a callback to many cheats featured in games from the PS1 era. The Bloodborne demake may be quite short but with it releasing on January 31 it might just be long enough to keep FromSoftware fans entertained until Elden Ring releases on February 25.

Bloodborne is available on PS4.
