The official Bloodborne twitter account has released an image of a new weapon from its upcoming expansion, The Old Hunters.

The weapon is named "Juunikutachi" and bears a resemblance to the game's iconic Saw Cleaver, especially in its handle design. The blade also looks to be made up of modules, which suggests that it might break apart for extended range or a new attack style similar style to one of Bloodborne's starting weapons, the Threaded Cane.

Bloodborne: The Old Hunters will tell the story of the hunters that once made Yharnam their hunting ground and, according to Sony, is set in a "nightmare world where hunters from the past are trapped forever". Sony have stated that The Old Hunters will be the only DLC for Bloodborne

The exciting new expansion will also contain modified bosses from the core game, curved blade weapons, a bow and arrow, and other new features. Ludwig, founder of the Healing Church Workshop, and first hunter of the Church, has been confirmed to be one of the game's added bosses. Additionally, the expansion will allow players to “go native and transform into terrifying beasts,” something which is sure to be an interesting addition to the usually tactical game. Beasthood is something that Bloodborne fans hoped was included in the game, but unfortunately it wasn't quite realized in the way they wished. Now, however, it appears From Software is making good on those teases.

Despite Sony's claims that they took a big risk with Bloodborne, the brutal action role-playing game has been hugely successful and its exclusivity to PS4 has made it an excellent selling point for the console. Currently, Bloodborne is part of the EU PlayStation store's Halloween sale and is discounted by 33%, plus a further 10% to all PS+ members.

Alternatively, European players have Bloodborne‘s Game of the Year Edition on the way, which will be released on November 27th, 3 days after the expansion releases on the PlayStation Store. This new edition will contain the base game as well as The Old Hunters DLC but only in Europe - a North American release has not been announced. The physical copy aims at giving everybody another chance to pick up the game as they look into getting a new console this Christmas.
