Even with its latest and perhaps greatest in Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s Bloodborne remains one of the most popular titles in its catalog. Thanks to its more action-oriented combat, unique aesthetic and setting, and fan-loved Trick Weapons, Bloodborne has always stood out—and fans have wanted a sequel for a long time.

Many fans would settle for a 60 FPS upgrade for Bloodborne, while others hope for a proper PS5 remaster or remake. A sequel, much to many fans’ dismay, is unlikely because FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki prefers new IPs to sequels. That hasn’t stopped fans from hoping for Bloodborne 2, and one fan-made trailer gives fans a tantalizing taste of what it could look like.

As reported by Screen Rant, YouTuber ENFANT TERRIBLE recently made a trailer for Bloodborne 2 using Unreal Engine 5. The video reportedly uses artwork from Bloodborne artists and developers, enhancing them with Unreal Engine 5’s capabilities. If there’s one thing for certain, it’s that Unreal Engine 5 would make Bloodborne 2 a true marvel.

There are several environments that showcase what a Yharnam from the ground up could look like, while also showing snowy and sandy environments that would fit Bloodborne 2 if it expanded beyond Yharnam. It’s always felt like a pipe dream, but to know that Bloodborne 2 on Unreal Engine 5 is incredibly unlikely feels like something taken out of the Hunter’s Nightmare.

It’s not impossible that Bloodborne 2 is eventually made, but it feels very unlikely. After its 2015 release, FromSoftware moved on with its less Souls-like game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and its open-world Souls RPG Elden Ring. With Elden Ring DLC likely in the works, it’s possible FromSoft has begun development (in some stage) of its next game, but that could be just about anything.

This showcase of Bloodborne’s Yharnam in Unreal Engine 5 hasn’t been the only video showing the power of UE5 as of late. A recent UE5 video showcased what an Assassin’s Creed Japan game could look like, and plenty more have gone to show off its power. The first game to release using Unreal Engine 5 has yet to be confirmed, but several Unreal Engine 5 games are in development. Each of those games show a ton of promise, and there’s little doubt many are ready to see its power in action—though it probably won’t happen with Bloodborne 2.

Bloodborne is available on PS4.
