Unfortunate news today for Bloodborne fans who might have hoped to see a new title under the IP to come to the PS5 at launch. According to a report from a leaker over on ResetEra, FromSoftware does currently have multiple games in the works at the moment, but none of them are a sequel, or spin-off, or in any way related to Bloodborne.

Having released as a PS4 exclusive, many fans have been wondering if Bloodborne 2 would be a PS5 exclusive, either at launch of the system, or within the first couple years of its release. However, with Elden Ring being the main company's focus, and following up on statements from FromSoftware that there is no planned Bloodborne sequel, it seems that those hopes have been quickly dashed.

According to the leaker, who goes by the name Omnipotent, Bloodborne 2 is neither in development now, nor is it in line to be developed once current projects are completed. Fans of the series may not be too surprised to hear this, as the same news reported directly from FromSoftware's President Hidetaka Miyazaki when fans thought that a Deracine Easter Egg was a nod from the company of what's to come. Additionally, the development studio has famously always tried to move forward with something new, which is what created Bloodborne in the first place as Miyazaki had attempted to move on from Dark Souls.

From works on multiple projects all the time. As of right now, the game isn't in development or in line to be in development. So in the event that a Bloodborne sequel does happen, it's not happening any time soon.

It should be stated that this most recent statement comes from a leak, and isn't an official statement by the company. That being said, when considering FromSoftware's past remarks on Bloodborne 2, this reporting is not far off from what fans have heard before about the possibility of a sequel. While it is possible that after the Norse-inspired Elden Ring is finished that a Lovecraft-inspired Bloodborne sequel could be one of the next projects for the developers to consider, there doesn't seem to be a drive within the company to revisit the game.

The Bloodborne community has been fairly vocal over the years about the desire to see the series continue with new ideas and some features that had to be cut, much in the way that Dark Souls eventually grew into a full trilogy. However, all the fans of the game can hope for now is that FromSoftware sees the demand for a new title within the IP and eventually decides to pursue that. This is what eventually created Dark Souls 2 after all, and then eventually the full Dark Souls trilogy that fans have today, so there may still be hope for a sequel, just not in the near future.

Bloodborne is available now for PS4.
