Just a few days ago, rumors began flying about the internet stating that a new Silent Hill game was in development, with some leaked images being taken down, lending the theory an air of credibility. Since then, speculations have gone deeper, with Bloober Team said to be at the helm of a remake of Silent Hill 2. As the creator of such horror titles as The Medium and Layers of Fear, Bloober are no stranger to the genre. However, there has still been no confirmation, and the company's own CEO is not saying a word.

That's according to a recent interview with IGN, in which Piotr Babieno wishes to not make any comment about the Silent Hill 2 remake rumors, adding that the studio wishes to remain in good stead with its partners. However, he did say that there will be an announcement about a currently unannounced project soon, and insists that whatever game the developer releases will "still be a Bloober Team title."

The partnership that Babieno is referring to is most likely in reference to the relationship between Bloober Team and Konami, which was announced last summer. Since then, rumors about a possible new entry in the Silent Hill franchise have remained just below the surface of gaming discourse, and it feels like these latest theories and leaks could be the closest thing that the fan base has had to any solid evidence since speculations began.

Speculations about a number of Silent Hill projects came thick and fast recently, with there said to be two more in development, as well as the aforementioned remake of Silent Hill 2. The remake could potentially have some reworked puzzles, as well as new endings, but again, at the time of writing, these have yet to be confirmed. Given that Bloober has evidently taken a lot of inspiration from the Konami-owned IP for its own games, a modern reimagining of the 2001 sequel seems like something Babieno and the rest of the team would jump at the chance to take on.

Of course, there have been plenty of Silent Hill rumors in the past, so some may be holding back any excitement, but this feels like the first bout of speculations that could lead somewhere. Ever since the Silent Hills/P.T. collaboration from Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro was canceled back in 2015, there has been a hole left in the hearts of many fans of the celebrated horror series. Hopefully Bloober or Konami will be able to give further details sooner rather than later.

A number of Silent Hill projects are heavily rumored to be in development.
