Blizzard acknowledges the many launch issues faced by Overwatch 2 players in the last few days and addresses problems like account merging and matchmaking in this latest update. Blizzard confirms that the items gamers obtained are not lost, but it may take additional time for accounts to merge as many requests are still in the queue.

The next major talking point is the matchmaking system of Overwatch 2. Blizzard states that users may have to wait before they get into a match, but it’s changing system configurations in the hopes of shortening this duration. The development team will keep an eye on the matchmaking queues over the weekend to find other possible improvements.

The post also addresses other issues present in Overwatch 2, such as crashes and black screens, and users not getting access to items they purchased. Blizzard acknowledges that console players who bought the Watchpoint Pack may not see their items in-game, and mentions that it mostly affects the PlayStation user base. Blizzard has made a fix ready for this issue and plans to deploy it later today.

All of these technical problems will probably get resolved in the future, but users also have issues with the game’s design blueprint. Some players claim that Overwatch 2 is not a big enough upgrade over the original Overwatch, while many dislike the monetization practices Blizzard adopted in this free-to-play release. Overwatch 2 is being review bombed as a consequence of these issues as gamers post negative reviews to share their frustrations.

Overwatch 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
