Blizzard recently sent out a survey asking players about Warcraft 3: Reforged, indicating it may have more significant plans for the faulty remaster. The questions seem to suggest Blizzard could even be planning a soft relaunch of Warcraft 3: Reforged.A select group of fans on the Blizzard survey email list recently received a survey pertaining to Warcraft 3: Reforged. The survey’s questions were geared towards identifying what players like or dislike about Warcraft 3: Reforged, and what they would like to see change in the future.RELATED: Blizzard Fans Reminisce and Mourn as Chinese World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Overwatch Servers Close IndefinitelyThe survey also gauges player interest in a number of new features in Warcraft 3: Reforged. Some of these were direct from Legacy Warcraft 3, like Ranked Play, Clans, and Leaderboards, but others, like an in-game art update, storage size reduction, and improvements to the campaign, are new. One of the final questions even asks how appealing a “soft relaunch” of Warcraft 3: Reforged would be.

This new survey from Blizzard is promising. After Warcraft 3: Reforged’s lukewarm reception, players demanded refunds and considered the game a flop. However, after over a year of silence, Blizzard suddenly began giving Warcraft 3: Reforged attention, with multiple new balance patches and updates since then.

Players are interested to see what this new survey means for the future of Warcraft 3: Reforged. Legacy Warcraft 3 played a large role in elevating Warcraft to one of Blizzard’s biggest franchises and creating World of Warcraft’s decades-long success. If Blizzard truly goes back and re-releases Warcraft 3: Reforged with the changes posed by the survey, it could be a huge opportunity for both new and old players to experience the RTS game as a true remaster.

That said, players should temper their expectations about Warcraft 3: Reforged for the time being. These surveys only show Blizzard is collecting feedback–until a formal announcement is made, there is no proof it is actually planning a soft relaunch of Warcraft 3: Reforged. Even so, it is promising to see Blizzard has not forgotten about its attempted remake yet.

In the meantime, Warcraft 3 players can experience a remastered version of the remaster with Warcraft 3: Re-Reforged–a fan project engineered by InsaneMonster. This vast project seeks to give Warcraft 3: Reforged the new cutscenes, maps, lore, and other features promised in the original announcement. InsaneMonster has already completed the prologue and Human campaigns. If Blizzard is going to relaunch Warcraft 3: Reforged, hopefully, it will be before InsaneMonster finishes the game first.

Warcraft 3: Reforged is available now on PC.
