Blizzard gives fans an update on the Overwatch 2 hero lockout issue, as some are still finding the problem even after emergency maintenance took place. In the days following Overwatch 2's recent launch, many gamers are having problems when they try to load into the FPS. The first major issue Overwatch 2 faced on release was the sheer amount of players trying to log on to the game at once, causing immense queue times. Blizzard has given updates to fans on these issues, but more keep popping up over time.

Recently, Bastion and Torbjorn had to be removed from Overwatch 2 due to exploits that were found with the characters. Bastion can't be picked in any Overwatch 2 game mode, and Torbjorn has been relegated just to quick play at the time of writing. Both heroes had issues regarding their abilities, as players were able to utilize Bastion's Artillery Fire and Torbjorn's overload more times than they were meant to.

Another issue with Overwatch 2's hero system has been pointed out recently as players have informed Blizzard that they cannot access the heroes they've unlocked when they load into a match. Blizzard has since stated that it is aware of this problem, explaining that it is caused by an issue with the Overwatch 2 servers that "tracks player progression." Blizzard does not state whether this is a widespread problem within the Overwatch 2 community, as reports differ over how many heroes are being locked at once and when players run into this issue.

Despite emergency maintenance being concluded, it seems that players are still running into this issue. Blizzard hasn't yet divulged when it will roll out an update around this issue specifically, but the company has indicated that it will be resolved sooner rather than later. Overwatch 2's progression system is hugely different from the first game, as players unlock heroes through the battle pass rather than having each character available to them from launch. This proved to be an unpopular decision right from when it was revealed, and now that it is the reason behind a major issue, fans' opinion on the battle pass is unlikely to improve.

Even with some issues around Overwatch 2's matchmaking, a lot of gamers are still hopping on the new FPS to give it a try. However, there are plenty of things that fans miss from the original Overwatch. For Support players especially, the lack of end-of-match cards means they no longer get a chance to receive praise for excellent healing plays.

Overwatch 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
