One of the surprise announcements at Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference was the reveal of Blair Witch, a new first-person horror game from Bloober Team, the studio behind similar titles like Layers of Fear and Observer. The wait for Blair Witch is nearly over, and now a new trailer has been released that highlights the story's more "insane" elements.

The new Blair Witch trailer depicts how main character Ellis will slowly become insane over the course of the game. It seems that this will include hallucinations of a woman in his life - possibly his wife - as well as disturbing flashbacks to past memories. Ellis will encounter some being while lost in the woods, presumably the titular "Blair Witch," and will even make the weird stick figures that have sort of become the Blair Witch franchise's logo.

The trailer also gives fans a better look at some of the locations they will be visiting in the upcoming Blair Witch video game. It appears as though this will include the infamous house from the end of The Blair Witch Project movie, with Ellis going down the basement steps in a manner not unlike the protagonists of the film. It's possible that the game will have other connections to the movies that have yet to be revealed, which will definitely be interesting to see.

Those impressed by the new Blair Witch story trailer should note that there is a deal going on for those who plan to pre-order the game on PC. Anyone who pre-orders the standard version of Blair Witch on Steam are automatically upgraded to the Deluxe Edition at no extra charge. Besides the game itself, the Blair Witch Deluxe Edition includes the soundtrack and "The Art of Blair Witch" digital book. Otherwise, the Deluxe Edition will cost $34.99, which is about $5 more than the regular version of the game.

Past Blair Witch trailers highlighted the horror and the woods, but this latest one really gives fans their closest look yet at what the actual story will entail. It's unclear if there will be any additional trailers between now and the game's August 30 release, but fans will just have to stay tuned to find out.

Blair Witch launches on August 30 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
