Blacklight: Tango Down 2 Confirmed, Sigh

Blacklight Tango Down Review - 2

In a conversation with Big Zombie CEO Mark Long confirmed that Blacklight: Tango Down 2 is in the works. Long also confirmed that there will be no downloadable content for last week's release, Blacklight: Tango Down. You can read our review of the original right here.

Coming out less than a week after release and announcing you have no plans to support your game content-wise doesn't seem like the most responsible thing to do. Considering that Blacklight: Tango Down currently has a 66% review aggregate at Metacritic, so Long's comments almost seem like an "abandon ship", if anything. How does the generally poor review scores, the promise of a sequel in less than a year's time, and the knowledge that there will be no maps, game modes or other DLC improve a gamer's impressions of your game?

However, I did not that Blacklight is catering to a niche audience, so maybe Mark Long is speaking to them and not the general public. Perhaps fans of the game will be thrilled at the idea that Blacklight is working towards a sequel as quickly as possible.

Or perhaps I was correct in my first assumption, that this iteration of Blacklight is doomed to mediocrity and that beginning immediate work on a sequel is in the best interests of the company. One of my largest complaints about Blacklight was  its lack of robustness, a general feeling of it being incomplete. Should Zombie take the time to build a full single player game, a cooperative mode with context, and a multiplayer mode that lacks a few of the rougher edges currently found in the game they might have something amazingly marketable.

Either way, Blacklight: Tango Down 2 is in development. How does that make you feel, Ranters?
