Fans expecting to go into the upcoming Black Widow film and get a fun spy movie with plenty of action and car chases can now breathe a little easier in the comforting knowledge that it does, indeed, include action and a car chase. At least, that appears to be the case if a newly released clip from the movie is anything to go by. Plus, as a bonus, there's a little snark in there as well. Who says the art of the summer blockbuster is dead?

Marvel just teased a new clip from their hotly-anticipated prequel-ish movie based on Scarlett Johansson's character Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it appears to be shaping up as exactly the high-energy film fans have been expecting. The scene shows off a car chase scene featuring Natasha and her sister figure Yelena Belova (played by actress and charming Instagram cook Florence Pugh) as they try to escape an unknown motorcycle-riding assailant (though we do get a peek at her eyes behind a smashed helmet as the clip ends).

If the video's description calling the two women sisters wasn't clear enough, the bickering between Natasha and Yelena should give it away instantly. While the majority of the scene follows Natasha attempting to evade their attacker, the banter between the two about having a plan and the general suckage level of said plan probably feels intimately familiar to any groups of sisters watching. Well, it might feel that way to any sisters who regularly go on high-speed chases, anyway. This sort of pulse-pounding action makes it obvious why many fans thought a Black Widow movie should have happened much earlier.

Black Widow is set after Captain America: Civil War, and focuses on Natasha dealing with a new threat that forces her to confront her past and a number of old personal relationships she thought she'd left behind for good. Directed by Cate Shortland, the film also appears to include a sort of "baton passing" from Natasha to Yelena regarding the Black Widow mantle. So for those wondering how the movie would reconcile with a certain spoiler-ific moment regarding Natasha in Avengers: Endgame, the suggestion seems to be that Yelena will likely be the one to carry on the name.

Based on this clip alone, Black Widow appears to be a largely standard spy movie. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Its status as more of a backstory film than one which drives the larger Marvel narrative frees it up to tell its own self-contained story and give audiences what is basically the movie equivalent of an optional side quest. It's not required to understand the overall story, but those who do partake will likely enjoy a deeper understanding of at least a small part of it.

Plus, more car chases are always a good time. Black Widow looks like a classic summer blockbuster, and that's kind of something a lot of people need right now. Besides, the plot surrounding Yelena also suggests that she might play a bigger role in the Marvel universe going forward, and who doesn't love a good origin story?

Black Widow will release in theaters and the Disney+ Premiere Access service, with the latter costing potential viewers $30 USD.
