The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer nabbed nearly 200 million views within 24 hours of its release, hardly surprising for one of Marvel Studios’ most highly anticipated projects. However, those who simply played back the preview to listen to its rendition of Bob Marley's “No Woman, No Cry” can now enjoy the standalone track as part of the movie’s prologue soundtrack.

The release of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Prologue had been announced during Marvel Studios' San Diego Comic-Con 2022 panel, and now that the full three-track EP is out, fans can get a feel for what part of the film’s music will be like. The first Black Panther featured some of the best music in cinema in recent memory, let alone a Marvel Studios movie, as Ludwig Göransson's brilliant award-winning score and Kendrick Lamar's accompanying album gave the movie sounds just as iconic as the imagery put together by Ryan Coogler.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Prologue dropped on practically every music streaming service available. As fans can hear, the soundtrack departs from the hip-hop themes that dominated the first film in favor of more Afro-Latin beats. Joining Nigerian singer Tems' cover of Bob Marley's classic is Ghana's Amaarae featuring Kali Uchis for the upbeat track “A Body, A Coffin." Furthermore, Mexican rapper Santa Fe Klan closes off this early musical preview again produced by Göransson.

Naturally, the biggest standout here is the slow emotional cover of “No Woman, No Cry." The song perfectly fits the tone of a Black Panther sequel that’s destined to be defined by the passing of Chadwick Boseman. This trifecta of lesser-known artists could also benefit from the extra exposure, especially if the precedent set by The Batman's usage of Nirvana's “Something in the Way” is any indication of what having a song in a major superhero blockbuster can do for the artists responsible.

Having Göransson return as the musical mastermind behind Black Panther 2 is a substantial bonus for the movie, as he is the composer behind not only fantastic tracks such as Killmonger's epic theme (featured in What If…?) but also Disney Plus' The Mandalorian score. There’s a lot to dissect from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer, including a cryptic tribute for the late Boseman, but early reactions to the trailer have been mostly positive.

To this day Black Panther remains one of Marvel Studios' most successful films, only behind the fully assembled Avengers movies and Spider-Man: No Way Home. This means interest in anything related to the franchise, including music and a possible Black Panther video game, is bound to draw attention.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to release in theaters on November 11, 2022.
