It was recently revealed that zombies would be part of the Blackout Battle Royale mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Treyarch has now shed some light as to how they will be utilized in the new mode.

In an attempt to set Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's BR mode apart from other games in the genre, Treyarch decided to add its own flair by including a part of the Black Ops series popular Zombies mode. That should help fans of the series ease into the new mode, or at least give them more incentive to try it out. The fact that the map is composed of signature locales from previous games in the series will help with that, too.

Speaking of the the map, which was also recently revealed, those worried about running into swarms of the undead anywhere on it can breathe easy. One of the details released is that the zombies will only appear in areas that have ties to the Zombie mode, like the Lighthouse. Players also don't have to worry about zombie hordes overtaking them, as each area that features zombies will only have around 8 of them at the most.

Taking out the zombies could potentially pose a risk, not just from the undead, but from other players as well. As with any BR game, shots being fired may draw other players towards the location it came from, meaning additional threats. For those who can either take the zombies out silently and/or survive other players showing up may be rewarded, though, as the zombies have the possibility of dropping useful items.

Those eager to try out the new mode won't have long to wait, as the beta is set to drop for PS4 on September 10th and then for Xbox One on the 14th. Those who pre-ordered on PC will also get access that day, with the beta becoming open to all on the 15th and it will run through September 17th.

Of course, other details have been rolling out in regards to the new mode, especially with the beta date being so close. Those interested in what is currently known about Blackout can take a look at our past content.
