Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is enjoying some free content in the form of the Absolute Zero update, and that includes a new Specialist named Zero for multiplayer as well as the Blackout battle royale mode. However, some players may not realize how they can add Zero to their pool of playable characters, so here's how it's done.

Unlocking Zero in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is relatively easy to compared to unlocking most of the other characters in the game. To unlock Zero in Black Ops 4, players need to complete Tier One in Black Market. At that point, Zero will be available to play as in both the standard multiplayer modes and Blackout.

As far as how Zero plays, she's actually reminiscent of Sombra of Overwatch fame. In Black Ops 4, Zero's special ability is called Ice Pick, and it allows players to hack enemies and equipment. Zero also has access to the EMP Disruptor, which disables enemy equipment and interferes with enemy HUDs. Some fans have complained that Zero is overpowered compared to some other characters in the game, so expect Treyarch to address this in future updates.

Of course, Zero doesn't have access to her special abilities in the Blackout battle royale mode. On the contrary, everyone in Blackout starts off with basically nothing, and they have to scour the world map in search of weapons to defend themselves. If players look hard enough, they may even get their hands on especially powerful gadgets and weaponry, like the Ray Gun, for instance.

In the future, it's possible that Treyarch will have Specialist abilities play a role in Blackout, maybe as part of a limited-time event or something along those lines. In the meantime, anyone who wants to try out Zero's unique abilities will just have to put them to work in Black Ops 4's standard multiplayer modes.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
