Although PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds may be coming to PS4 next month, many believe that it will be too late for PlayStation owners since Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's extremely popular battle royale mode, Blackout, has been met with immediate success. While its success can be attributed to many different factors, Blackout owes a lot of it to nostalgia, as its map and many of its playable characters came from previous Black Ops installments.

At its launch, Blackout lacked a feel of worthwhile progression due to its controversial tier-system, but Treyarch has since added the ability to unlock many playable characters in the battle royale, including nine Zombies characters. One of the nine, Shadowman can only be unlocked through the purchase of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's season pass, but the remaining eight can be made playable through the completion of a series of in-game challenges.

Similar to unlocking Nikolai, acquiring Takeo requires three basic steps of a challenge to be completed in proper succession. Players must first find the Katana, then they must kill zombies with it, and finally, they must finish the match in the top 10. It is important to note that order does matter, and all steps must be completed in one match, meaning progression does not carry over from match to match.

Update: Now, it seems that Takeo can only be unlocked by obtaining the Letter to the Emperor. This letter can be found on and picked up from the desks that appear in Asylum, Boxing Gym, and the house outside of Asylum. After this, all the player has to do is finish in the top 15 without using any equipment (grenades, concussions, etc.).

While zombies spawn in five separate locations, some are likely to receive higher player-traffic than others, so to unlock Takeo in a timely manner, it is recommended to land at one of the less-populated spawns. Anvil Boxing Gym, the building halfway between Fracking Tower and Turbine, and the small building west of Array are both usually less-crowded. If players are willing to take the risk of possibly running into other players, Graveyard, Asylum, and Lighthouse are all overrun by zombies as well. Even though the Blightfather event is over, Graveyard still tends to be a hotspot for players, and it is most likely to stay that way.

Although it is recommended to land somewhere with fewer people who may abruptly end a player's progress towards unlocking Takeo, the choice of risk is completely up to the player. Landing somewhere heavily-populated could mean finishing the game with a high amount of kills while also unlocking Takeo at the same time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
