Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has marked a new era for the Call of Duty franchise by producing one of the most-innovative battle royales of 2018, Blackout. But even though Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 integrated a battle royale mode instead of a story-based single-player campaign, it is still full of some new and interesting characters with mysterious backgrounds and motivations. However, Blackout also has many playable characters from previous Black Ops installments who can only be unlocked by completing their corresponding challenges.

While Shadowman is the only character in Blackout's Zombies character list to only be available through purchase of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's season pass, the other eight can be unlocked by completing the corresponding characters' in-game challenges. The challenges to unlock the first eight vary from character to character, but the basic three-step formula is present in all of them. As it is with unlocking Bruno, the process of unlocking Scarlett can be simplified into three steps: find an item, complete an action, and finish the match.

To begin Scarlett's challenge, players must first find and collect the Racing Goggles and Scarf items by killing and looting a zombie. Since it will most-likely take multiple tries and many zombies to find this item, it is recommended to land at one of the zombie spawn locations that is near another. While players will likely have to encounter other players in both Graveyard and Asylum, they are considerably close together and can provide several opportunities to get that lucky drop. Though if players would prefer not to encounter other players right off the bat, Anvil Boxing Gym (the building between Fracking Tower and Turbine) and the TranZit Diner west of Array are both small, quiet, and overrun by zombies.

Having now collected the item, players must kill an enemy with a vehicle. ATVs are recommended since trucks are extremely slow and harder to maneuver. Once the player has run over an opponent, all they have left to do is finish the game with the Racing Goggles and Scarf in their inventory. The match must be completed in its entirety; quitting the match will remove the player's progress towards unlocking Scarlett.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
