One of the most popular and memorable characters from the Black Ops series is undoubtedly Viktor Reznov. First appearing in the Call of Duty: World at War campaign, Reznov played a major role in the story of the first two Black Ops games, and returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 as a playable character in the Blackout battle royale mode. However, Reznov was impossible to unlock in the game until the latest update, which finally gives players the chance to get him as a playable character for Blackout.

To unlock Reznov in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, players first need to find the special item attached to him, the Ushanka Hat. The Ushanka Hat can spawn in a number of locations around the Blackout map, but confirmed locations include two spots in Estates and one spot at the Asylum.

If players go to the Estates, the hat can spawn at the red statue or in the fountain. Similarly, the Ushanka hat can spawn in the fountain at the Asylum. Getting the hat is actually the easiest part of unlocking Reznov, as the challenges players have to complete after getting it will really put their skills to the test.

After finding the hat, players will need to get a kill at "extreme range." Apparently, extreme range means 200 meters or more, so anyone hoping to complete the challenge will want to be equipped with a sniper rifle. Near the end of the match, things will be a little more close quarters and it may be harder to get an extreme range kill, so it's best players try to complete this challenge as early in the game as possible.

Getting an extreme range kill is just half the battle, though. The next step players will have to complete is surviving to a certain point in the match, which will change depending on what mode they're playing. In Solos, players will have to reach the top 5. In Duos, it's top 3. And finally, those playing in Quads will have to make it to the top 2 if they want to unlock Reznov.

Like unlocking the other Blackout characters, unlocking Reznov will also require players to keep the Ushanka hat in their inventory until the end of the match, so it's worth keeping that in mind.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
