Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has added a new zombies map to its roster, with Dead of the Night serving as a narrative prequel to the Voyage of Despair storyline. In this map, players control a phony psychic, a butler, a stage-show gunslinger, and a retired brigadier general (all voiced by an impressive cast, of course). These characters will see the player through hordes of zombies, but also through the map's Easter egg.

Players may want to bring friends along for the ride, as there is a step or two that is much more complicated without help. Otherwise, players may also want to suit up with the melee shield and the Annihilator before getting too far into the Easter egg.

For those diehard Black Ops 4 zombies fans, here's how to complete the Dead of the Night Easter egg. Just follow this guide and players will unlock the Trial by Ordeal Achievement/Trophy. Before we delve into each step, we recommend this video by YouTuber MrDalekJD for those who prefer a visual guide:

Step 1: Activate the Pack-a-Punch

The first step in completing this Black Ops 4 Easter egg is to activate the Pack-a-Punch. To do so, players should proceed across the North Atrium bridge and activate the sentinel artifact. Players will then need to find 3 vases around the map that have colored smoke coming out. There is a crystal located within each. Here are the possible spawn locations:

• Wine Cellar (2 spawns)
• Master Bedroom (1 spawn)
• Trophy Room (1 spawn)
• Library (1 spawn)
• Study (1 spawn)

Once players find a vase, they will need to kill four zombies at the crystal. Afterward, looking into it will show the players a certain image. Based upon that image, players will need to hunt down the symbol on the map and complete a certain task. For a complete guide on those symbols and tasks, check out this Pack-a-Punch guide here.

Black Ops 4 Players will then have to face a werewolf in the forest, but the Pack-a-Punch lies just beyond it.

Step 2: Craft the Silver Bullets

Once Pack-a-Punch is ready, players will need to craft some silver bullets. Players will simply need to find some objects to melt into silver then use a crafting table to craft the bullets. The items players need to find are a Candle Holder, Trophy, Plate, Guano, Charcoal, and Sulfur.

To first get the silver, players need to go to the buildable table located in the Wine Cellar. To craft the silver bullets, players must use the table located in the library. Here are the spawns for every item Black Ops 4 players need to find:

• Candle Holder
  • On the leftmost table in the same room as the Sentinel Artifact
  • Near the fireplace in the Billiards Room
  • In the Main Hall near the clock

• Trophy
  • Red table in the Dining Room
  • Near the sofa in the West Hallway
  • Huge diner table in the Dining Room

• Plate
  • On the wall near the vase in the Wine Cellar
  • Across from the buildable table in the Wine Cellar
  • On the table near the vase in the Wine Cellar

• Guano
  • Around the tree near the Cemetery staircase
  • Statue near the Mausoleum staircase
  • On the path near the Mausoleum staircase, in the right corner

• Charcoal
  • Found in the fireplace in either the Billiards Room, the Master Bedroom, or the Main Hall

• Sulfur
  • Found in the Greenhouse laboratory, either left or right of the entrance, or in the upper-left of the room.

Step 3: Activate the Quest Lines

This step is the easiest. Once the two aforementioned steps are completed, Black Ops 4 players simply need to return and interact with the crystals used to activate Pack-a-Punch. There is no order, so players can hit them as quickly as they can. In the last crystal, players will see one of the following three images: a knight, a circular object, or a pair of twigs.

If players see a knight, then they must complete the Knight quest line in step 4.

If players see a circular object, then they must complete the Telescope quest line in step 4.

If players see a pair of twigs, then they must complete the Effigy quest line in step 4.

Step 4: Complete a Quest Line

Step 3 tells players which quest line to complete, each of which is detailed here.

• The Knight Questline
  • Insert the Fire Gate Energy Core in the machine at the Library. After inserting the core, interact with the machine. Shoot at the fire with a charged annihilator shot. Players will then see blue fire on their shield now. Using the melee with this item, players will have to light all of the below fire places in order and quickly:
    • First set: Smoking Room, Library (right and left side), Billiards.
    • Second set: Main Hall Left, East Gallery, Main Hall Right, West Gallery.
    • Third set: Trophy Room, Master Bedroom, Music Room, Dining.

  • Interact with the Knights and a crystal will spawn. This crystal will follow the player as long as the distance isn’t too large. Go to the forest and look on the ground for the crystal’s symbol. A few ghost knights will spawn.
  • Collect zombie souls near these knights by killing them, in a manner similar to the Hellhounds on other maps. Once this is complete, the knights will move toward the Pack-a-Punch.
  • Werewolves will begin to spawn afterward, and players will need to kill a werewolf inside the Knights’ triangle. Doing so will spawn a stone tablet.
  • Interact with it and survive until it completes. Collect it to finish this quest.

• The Telescope Questline
  • The first step must be completed by all players in the lobby at the same time. Using silver bullets, everyone should shoot the rod above the Mausoleum. This will cause a light to shine toward the crystal above Atlas’s head and the rod will disappear.
  • Return to the North Atrium Bridge and solver a color puzzle. Basically, line up the three colors above Atlas’s head by using the wheels. Atlas’s head will be destroyed as a result and the light will connect to the telescope in the Greenhouse laboratory.
  • Players will now need to find three zodiac symbols across the map. There will also be up to 3 different scratch marks near the zodiac symbol as well. Make note of which zodiac has how many scratches, as this will come into play during the next step. For now, here is where the zodiac and scratch marks can spawn:
    • Billiards Room
    • Entrance Hall
    • Trophy Room
    • Main Hall
    • Library
    • Wine Cellar
    • Dining Room

  • Go to the Greenhouse laboratory and enter the zodiac symbols into the three-digit pass code. Enter them in order from the least scratch marks to the most. The code will remain if done correctly. It disappears if not entered in the right order.
  • Players will then want to interact with the dome crank. Melee it with the shield once the dome is fully open.
  • Activate the trap and use the electricity in it to shock the telescope with a shield bash. Once again, all player must do this at the same time.
  • Proceed under the telescope to find a door with a stone slab inside. Interact with it to be locked in the area with zombies, vampires, and werewolves. Pick up the stone slab afterward to complete this quest.

• The Effigy Questline
  • *This questline may need multiple players.*
  • Go to the Graveyard and shoot the branches of trees until one falls off. Interact with the fallen branch, and it’ll disappear.
  • Find the Gravestone that indicates 1912 as the death year. Interacting with it will force the player to enter spirit mode.
  • Find the scarecrow and shoot at the ground under it with the Annihilator. The player in spirit mode should entre the scarecrow to die and enter afterlife mode.
  • In this mode, go to the mansion and find the ghost. Be mindful near windows, tables, and perks, as she can be difficult to spot.
  • Once she’s found, escort her until she ignites. A stone will spawn on the ground afterward.
  • Interacting it will lock the player inside the Cemetery. Survive then pick up the stone slab to complete the quest.

Step 5: The Boss Fight

In their final encounter, Black Ops 4 players will once again be facing a werewolf, though this battle is a bit more complicated. There are essentially three phases to fight, detailed below:

• Phase 1: the player must aim all statues at a green square and stand in it to trap the werewolf. Keep shooting the wolf until a max ammo spawns, but also be wary of zombies.
• Phase 2: Players will have to face hordes of zombies, elementals, and werewolves. Be sure to grab ammo.
• Phase 3: This phase is the exact same as Phase 1, except players will not be able to see the green square this time around. Players will want to aim the statues and wait for the lights to turn green. Once this is done, the werewolf dies.

Hopefully, this strategy guides helps veterans and novices alike add one more Easter Egg notch to their belt. Considering Black Ops 4 was one of the most search games of 2018, according to Google, when combined with the complexity of these Easter eggs, it's easy to see why.
