Not too long ago, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beat out Red Dead Redemption 2 to earn the top spot on the NPD Group's best-selling games for October 2018, with the first-person shooter's sales likely having been helped by the existence of its take on battle royale with Blackout. Speaking of which, Activision and Treyarch have now given fans a teaser of an update to come in the game mode that will be changing the map somewhat.

As seen in the tweet below, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 fans should look forward to an incoming update that incorporates a new area to Blackout in the waters off the western coast of the map. However, it's still unclear exactly what Activision and Treyarch plans to add in the spot. Of course, that hasn't stopped fans from speculating as to what will be the first major change to the battle royale mode's map.

With the blip on the radar above indicating that the new area will come about in the waters, many are speculating that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode will be getting one of the franchise's classic ship-based maps. Two convincing theories point to the possibility of the update bringing about either Hijacked or Carrier from Black Ops 2. While it appears as if the former is the more popular choice–it's even one of the five maps we want to see in the mode–the latter could always make the cut, especially since Carrier would give players a wider and easier landing zone to hit when dropping into the map.

All things considered, we will simply have to remain patient until Activision and Treyarch reveal what's in store for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's first update to the map in Blackout. Thankfully, though, it doesn't appear as if the wait will be too long, as a date can be seen in the bottom right-hand corner of the radar screen reading December 11, 2018, which is likely when the map update will go live.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
