Since the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, a vocal portion of console players have continually suggested that there are some serious problems with looting in Blackout. Treyarch has has been responsive to these concerns, and Studio Design Director David Vonderhaar has recently provided specific details on the fix that the company has planned.

Taking to Twitter, Vonderhaar has confirmed that Treyarch is currently working on a new Stash UI for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale game mode. This new UI will allow console players to view groups of items when they are looting crates or the corpses of their opponents.

The Tweet further elaborates, stating that there are two designs in consideration. With one of these designs, the new Stash UI is comprised of two rows of five items, while there are three rows of five items with the other.

The debate on which of these designs to use appears to stem from Treyarch's attempt to find the perfect balance between the amount of onscreen space the UI occupies and the tabbing that is required to navigate through the entirety of a stash. That is, the two row design produces the least visual clutter, and the three row design necessitates less tabbing.

While fans are likely to have varying opinions on which of these options is best, either will be a vast improvement over the established looting system available to those playing on consoles. Currently, these players have to tab through every item in a stash individually — a time consuming task that can cause players to be eliminated as they attempt to locate items of interest.

The new looting system will put the console Blackout experience much closer to what is available to those playing on PC. These players are able to see all of the contents of a stash at once, and they have the added benefit of navigating the menus with a mouse and keyboard.

Vonderhaar has not yet provided a date for the implementation of thew new Stash UI, but he has indicated that it is in the QA testing phase. This may mean that its release is imminent — news that is certain to be welcomed by many console players that find looting in Blackout frustrating.
